Every few Sundays it seems that the Sindo has to run a headline front page story like today with " Coalition Under Threat " !!!! Examples, when Labour's Nulty and one or two others walked, with Reilly's as usual botched attempt to set up the inquiry into Savita Halappanavar's dreadful death, when Shorthall walked, etc

But this is par for the course for Independent News & Media :) Same happens with the Herald, when some tuppence ha'penny skanger shoots another tuppence ha'penny skanger it's always a " Mr Big is taken OUT !!!! "...... " Dublin Braced for Crime War " as a " major crime war is about to erupt on the streets of Dublin as two of the city's leading criminal gangs go head to head etc " 1930's Chicago style. Likewise with the INM owned Belfast Telegraph with the title " Unionist Fury as ...... "

But could there be more to this than just selling newspapers ? Or is there more to it with the INM giving the illusion to give the impression that Labour actually do give a damn when in fact they are just the useful pawns of Sir O'Reilly and Denis O'Brien like FG ?

Many papers like to hype up their "news"

Sindo is just a prime example. It is now wonder they have to give out so many free copies

True enough, I think INM is in debt to about €400 million :) They were even putting rumours out o a Govt bailout as INM according to INM journos is of such a central importance to Irish life it must be saved just like our wonderful banks !!!

But on the serious side, do you think their's also an agenda to try and pretend that Lablour aren't INM's pawns in order to stop the move of their vote to others such as the ULA, Indo's and especially Sir O'Reilly's hated enemy Sinn Fein !!!!

I wouldn't take any notice of that gutter rag.
Won't buy it, won't even look at their website to deny them ad income.

I guess a headline of 'not much going on' wouldn't sell nor would a complicated analysis of what's really going on that isn't built on soundbites, whataboutery and the company line. So instead we get doom porn

Amongst the most hilarious stances by the Sindo, is their continual endorsement of that clown Joan Burton.

Is Burton a lacky of the establishment ? Why else would one of the gombeen Irish newspapers endorse such an incompetent waster as Burton.

I think the coalition be reelected. Who is seriously going to put FF back in power. SF may even be responsible coalition partner for FF but what about the clowns from the United Left Alliance and Independents.

I disagree with that. I think Joan Burton is one of the better ministers. She knows her brief, and speaks her mind.

Candidate for leadership of Labour - vacancy may arise soon!

Would not say, a headline say, about Cyprus standing up for itself and it's implications for Ireland and the rest of the EU be more appropirate than the same old " Coalition Under Threat " ?

Last I heard Cyprus were crawling back look for that bailout when their Russian mates said GTFO. Not sure it's the triumph you want it to be.

I agree. I thought she used to come across as an idiot on current affairs programmes when pressed about here figures. Remember when she accused Vinnie Browne of being sexist when he challenged her figures. However she has matured as Minister unlike her boss Gilmore.

That's why they are championing her... they hope she'll move against Gilmore.. win the leadership... and then threaten her with "we put you here, we can take you out".. they're looking for a lackey

I suppose the Sindo need something to fill the pages now that Katy French is dead, and nobody's buying houses at inflated prices.
