The SNP say they will pass legislation in the Scottish Parliament to call a new independence referendum. The problem is, the Scottish parliament doesn't have this power. The last referendum was called by Westminister.

The SNP are very wisely moving fast while there is chaos in London - but will they get away with it? Will they run their referendum and then declare independence without reference to London? Will London take legal action to annul the referendum?

Will police and military in Scotland recognise the result when it is illegal under UK law?

It is only illegal until it becomes legal.

It is highly doubtful that Westminster would see the merit in subverting democracy.

Pretty much, if the Scottish parliament has the legal right to hold a non-binding referendum, then the weight of pressure will come on Westminster in trying to reject it. As things stand, it looks as if Westminster has lost control.

The UK's nuclear weapons program is situated in Scotland , too bad for the PM.
Only the submarine base.

I remember reading news-reports are that in the event of Scottish Independence the English Navy's nuclear-submarine fleet would temporarily use US Navy bases, until an English base could become operational.

But why the UK or England wants nuclear-submarines I can't understand.
