I suppose a run on one or two noticeable items, like toilet paper, would likely lead to panic about all sorts of other things too. Hence the garlic.

I wonder what would be the very last things left in the supermarket if the panic buying went on long enough? What's in there but that nobody ever buys? Something really specialised I imagine.

My guess is some of those really weird flavoured teas.
Corona beer apparently, and I'm not even kidding about this.
I received a Whatsapp video yesterday with a commentary by the video-taker, showing the empty beer shelves in a supermarket, empty that is of every brand except Corona.

The fishermen here in Irelands biggest fishing port have been told to stop fishing, its only a matter of time before there are none left on the shelves.
I work in a fish factory and we are working away, if u buy Salmon in Dunnes, there is a very good chance we produced it, we get most of it from the Shetlands and the Faroe islands

Wouldn't raw peeled garlic burn in the bum? Though unpeeled could be quite spiky too, so... Hmm.
Think I'd prefer to wear it around my neck, TBH!
Not sure if it would burn as I’ve never tried to put anything up there. Would there be nerve endings that would sense burning of a food item. I defer to the experts on that subject on here.

The good thing about the French putting it around their necks is it keeps vampires away, which is why they are mostly in Transylvania.

I think that you got this arseways, as you frequently do.
I saw a report on RTE a couple of nights ago, of fishermen from Castletownbeare,
& they were complaining that the price of fish had dropped drastically, & it wasn't worth their while fishing.
as one fisherman put it - the price they were getting for their fish wouldn't cover the cost of the diesel; !

& BTW the title of tis thread is -

Comments on COVID - 19 and ……..….. ahem ……………… Misinformation.

Yep, here is the RTE headline,
Fishermen advised to stop fishing this weekend due to market collapse.
The fishermen here have been told to stop fishing because the bottom has fallen out of the market, do you think this makes the slightest difference to what I said?

nobody told the fishermen in Castletownbeare to stop fishing.
if they have stopped, it's because they consider it not worth while, due to the low price they get for the fish.

BTW I haven't heard that the price of fish in the shops around here has dropped much.

Just to add to this farce.........................

38% of American beer drinkers surveyed this week said they wouldn't buy Corona "under any circumstances" at the moment.
Corona is Mexican of course. And for the really simple-minded, the word "corona" means "crown" in Spanish - the clue is in the company logo.
Trump supporters every single one, I'll wager! :ROFLMAO:

I am as pro free speech as anyone here but as Owedtojoy said, with the maxim about yelling fire in a crowded theatre, there are limits to free speech and there are also responsibilities. We are in the midst of a crisis and people are hungry for information on this and we need to be responsible.

You shouldn't take this as a large change in policy, you can still say Leo/Trump/Boris etc are good/bad/awful. Opinions aren't being censored but fake news or rather fake science is, as it's dangerous.

Remember a rebuttal to a dodgy post, even if it comes, could be three pages later and not read by the reader either.
Fake news. There is such a thing. It means something somebody just made up that is untrue or never happened.
Fake science ? There is mature or immature science. Mature science is around ideas nobody bothers to question anymore because of the weight of evidence. Immature science is an idea where there is still plenty of debate. What means “Fake Science” ?

Ok, I still have a stock of Toilet Paper.

What would be some creative alternatives to toilet paper ? ?

Apparently at one time people used a stick and if you picked up the stick in the wrong manner. You had; The wrong end of the stick ! !

So , creative replacements for toilet paper, please ! ! !
Leave a fingernail unclipped.

Was chatting to a friend at home in Waterford during the week and he told me he went to get beer at a local supermarket and the shelves were pretty empty but nobody was touching the Corona beer, full shelves.

Ok this is funny and sarcastic if you need a laugh. That said, *warning* it has some salty language so be careful if you are a) offended by that or b) have young children in earshot.
