That scientists and scientific organisations base their opinions on the available data and that non-scientists use 20/20 hindsight to criticise them afterwards?
They are too political , if it was just about the science they could have called stuff earlier , and their statement on masks was always wrong , there wasn't any new information.

A simple swab would be easy. Taking temps at airports was useless. Instead governments have locked down the population, and brought in severe restrictions... because they have no idea what to do.

In a fast evolving situation the available data is already out of date by the time its analysed and filtered through to the political decision makers. Politics also decides which advice to listen to. First we had the Chinese and their puppets in the WHO telling us it wasn't contagious. The Brits were taking advice from social "scientists".
There has never been a magical panel of experts who unanimously had all the answers. There has been contradictory advice from competing sources every stage of this.
