For 20 days now, while most of the world has looked on in dumb silence, the city of Bani Walid, in Libya, has been under indiscriminate shelling from Misrata militias, nominally loyal to the NATO imposed National Transitional Council (NTC.) These are the very same Misrata militias who dubbed themselves "The Brigades for the Elimination of Black Skins," as they ethnically cleansed 40,000 Black inhabitants from the city of Tawarga - again with the silent complicity of most of the Western media and political parties, including, shamefully, the parties of the Left.

Cheers for that Cael. The folding developments in Bani Walid is being ignored by the Western media despite Human Rights Watch stark warning of a potential humanitarian catastrophe as the town is attacked by the Libyan authorities and militias allied to it.

Libya: Residents of Bani Walid at Risk | Human Rights Watch
“The government and forces under its command should protect residents in Bani Walid and reject acts of revenge,” said Fred Abrahams, special advisor at Human Rights Watch. “There is an urgent need to stop destruction of the town and begin reconstruction, as well as to prosecute those who broke the law.”

The last districts in Bani Walid fell today after 21 days of resistance.

Seems they suffered a similar fate to the nearby city of Sirte last year. Just a pile of ruins with a few green flags sticking out of it now.

RIP to the thousands of secular fighters from both these cities who died fighting with Kalashnakovs against the combined forces of the religious extremists who have destroyed Libya and NATO's overwhelming military power.

Bani Walid battle raises a worrying trend in Libya
National Editorial

...

The swift decision to attack, and the ruthlessness of the offensive, suggest there are other dynamics at play besides a resurgent pro-Qaddafi movement. As The National reported yesterday, hundreds of fighters, mostly former rebels from the town of Misurata, gathered in the centre of Bani Walid, firing their rifles in the air to celebrate. Some of the tribal rivalries between the Warfalla and the Misurata far predate Qaddafi.

If the fighting is indeed over in Bani Walid, the world must watch the victors. People continue to be kidnapped and detained without charges to settle old scores, or simply for ransom. Tripoli must rein in the militias or the heroes of the revolution will become the destroyers of the peace.
