Why is it that that this government is either turgid or panicking? Doing nothing or in a crisis situation?

The banks? Secret meetings then wham, bang thank-you-ma'am, a crippling guarantee followed by NAMA, the only show in town and all-binding on an uninformed, uninvolved electorate.

The IMF? Secret meetings, secret agreements then wham, bang, thank-you-ma'am a 4- year plan that MUST be issued within 1 week, a budget that MUST be passed within a couple more and all-binding on an uninformed, uninvolved electorate.

Other than gun-to-the-head panics, nothing has been done to tackle any of the priority issues like unemployment, a catastrophic health service, political reform.... the list is endless.

On top of all this, none of the coalition partners wants to be held responsible for their scandalous irresponsibilities. Listen out for it during the upcoming campaign: "We are where we are". "We must move on". "What happened happened, it is in the past". All the nonsense that if taken to its logical conclusion would mean that none of the likes of the Dundons, John Gilligan or Larry Murphy should have to serve time for their crimes. The same nonsense that allows the non-pursuit of white-collar criminals.

There is an arrogance inherrent in Fianna Fail that has spread to its partners and corrupted the principles of government. This for me will be, together with negligence to the level of criminality, the defining characteristic of Cowen's government.

a manufactured crisis, lurching from one crisis to the next with communication to the citizen vague at best and untrue at worst.

We are been hoodwinked yet there are still people who act like they know what is going on when really only a select few will ever know the full details or non details as the case maybe. the point is that capitalism needs someone to bale it out, its the system that is and has been broken for a long time, the sooner all you puppets wake up the easier your life will become.

We live in uncertain, dangerous times, lol, how many times have we heard that now

we live in a free democratic society yet we have to keep secrets from you cause to involve you would see the problem solved. it aint rocket science ffs

Whatever about detail at the time, there was and is absolutely no justification for NOT informing opposition, the public and if you are to believe the greens and some ministers (which I do not) of what is happening on behalf of the people of this state with full details to be provided ASAP.

Secrecy and subterfuge are other constants of Cowen's government.

Does anyone seriously believe McCreevey, Ahern and Cowen had ever the best interests of Ireland at heart? These guys only ever have their eye on the next job and will do what it takes to please potential future employers, it was obvious with McCreevey and Ahern and it's obvious with Cowen.

The interests of individual FF politicians has run contrary to the interests of the Irish people for at least the last 10 years.

This is the party of Haughey, Lawlor, Ahern, Callelly, Padraig Flynn and many more shysters. What more evidence do you want that FF do not give a damn about the national interest?

We are only now seeing the fully realistion of their actions with a sell out to the IMF.

And how convienent they won't be in power when the sh*t really hits the fan?

It's all been planned from day one.

Aside from the identified shysters, the sheer lack of focus and in effect, doing ones job on behalf of the individual and collective ministers, be they green, FF or non-attached, is mind-boggling.

It seems that they are content to fill posts without doing anything to justify either their appointments or salaries.

And Cowen accepted it.
