Arrogant and hypocrytical comment from a Minister...surprise surprise it's Martin Cullen1Who does he think he is questioning our rights as citizens?I wish he'd shown such regard for public money during the past three years

As there is a Battle Royal brewing over the attempt to run a motorway through Tara see this as the opening Salvo of the Political Establishment's attempt to vilify those who up stand up to this projected Cultural Vandalism.

I'm glad he has says this-with the Bertie Bath leaking taxpayers money, this will totally backfire. Have FF lost all sense of good PR? Something along the lines of 'we could have more infrastructure like this if these projects weren't stopped by court action'. But to use the 'wasting money' arguement, that's just absurd!

It's just a freaking distraction cos he can't make his mind up on the Dublin Rail Plan, or else he can't persuade his colleagues.

This is typical Fianna Fail nonsense. Blaming "obstructors" to draw attention away from their own incompetence and often veniality when it comes to infrastructure projects, from the Carrickmines and Tara fiascos, where in both cases there was strong professional advice to take alternative routes to the ones proposed, to the murky dealings involved in the Rossport (state sanctioned) robbery of the nations natural resources, where no independent risk assessment has taken place.
If FF (and their governmental partners in crime) actually approached infrastructural projects in an honest and competent manner their would be far, far less people attempting to obstruct "development".

If FF want to see why they are accused of hypocrisy, arrogance and brass necked ignorance they need only look at this pronouncement from the supreme waster himself.

Martin Cullen said if there was a lesson from the M50 it was that once proper independent procedures had been completed that should be it.

He said he wanted to see an end to people going to the courts after that time.
Lying creep. The whole point of the court case over Carrickmines was that the proper independent procedures weren't followed. That's what the Supreme Court ruled. That's why they had to change the law to allow them to destroy the castle remnants.

Not that we can expect anything but lies from 0.7% Bertie and his henchmen.

The number of instances of the (unqualified) Board of An Bord Pleanala overriding the advice of their (qualified) inspectors would lead one to believe that the statutory process is in need of review.

I'll leave it at that.

I agree totally on this one. Always wondered how An Bord Pleanala could make decisions about all these applications which it has no local knowledge about. The board are just political appointments who have no knowledge of plannin. The recent TV footage of "inside An Bord Pleanala", did little to persuade me otherwise. One of them couldn't even open up the plans, then they were mulling over the plans (all staged for TV, ). But the way it was set up (i.e 8 lads sitting around plans for a development/ whatever that they really no nothing about). They may as well have a computer randomly refuse say 80 % of appeals, rather than bother trying to make a fair stab at it. Its just giving money to FF cronies.

There is a point there though.

I've worked with letters that have come in from residents about proposed schemes and some of them are absolutely ridiculous.

The problem is that the valid ideas and comments are being obscured by people hoping for pay-outs and people with too much time on their hands who just want the chance to feel important.

I never had much time for Trevor Sargent, but I was impressed at the way he took Martin Cullen to task over his "money-wasting" comments. Cullen is a hypocrite to condemn money wasting, since he is the daddy of money wasting projects.

But isn't it the job of professional planners to decide which observations are valid and which aren't? I would have thought that planners are paid enough and educated enough to be able to perform this fairly simple duty.

The Notorious Martin Cullen Minister for Environmental Destruction;Air Terminal chaos ; Crushed Castles;Heritage Destruction;E- voting Machines; and- last but not least -Beautiful Consultants:- the said Mimister opened the last leg of the M50 motorway Dublins only(and oldest) ring road. First mooted 33 years ago..it has at last been completed.! It is however not surprisingly a parking lot at peak periods, partly due to his lucrative Toll Bridge. Another such project is now a gleam in Martin's eye!.
As he lit up another cigarette,in the breezy hills of Carrickmines he declared to the stunned media ' that those who oppose 'necessary infrastructure' are 'robbing the taxpayers of Ireland' .This shock promulgation was probably quite effective in distracting the journalists from more concrete facts about the 'new' motorway.
It took longer to build than the number of years Jesus Christ spent upon Earth.
The last 12 kilometres cost some 600 million euros, some 50 million per Kilometre.
The reason for this was that a gentleman named Frank Dunlop had made cash payments to many Fianna Fail (some others too) county councillors, in the Dunlaoghaire-Rathdown county council, to facilitate the re-zoning of the Carrickmines lands which border the motorway. The shadowy company which owns the land and received massive payments for the land at re-zoned prices,of taxpayers money-is an offshore entity called 'Jackson Way' .The beneficial owner is believed to be one Liam Kennedy a former one armed bandit casino owner in Dublin and relative of the notoriously corrupt Dublin City Council manager George Redmond.Liam now controls his extensive property portfolio from the security of the Isle of Man a small offshore tax haven for hoodlums of every conceivable activity, located in the middle of the Irish Sea,some 35 kilometres off the coast of Ireland.
Martin Cullen however was believed to be referring to the small group of conscientiuous heritage enthusiasts who attempted to prevent the National Roads Authority from building an interchange on the historic remains of an old Anglo-Saxon fortification discovered duting excavations,by appealing too the Judiciary to halt the vandalism.
This saga is estimated to have cost a trifling (relatively speaking) 20 million Euros to the hard burdened irish taxpayer.! Who pray tell us Martin are the 'robbers' then. Your county Councillors;the shadowy speculators; or the conscientious objectors.?
Question; Is Martin Goebels alive, living somewhere in Ireland, and operating an 'image grooming' expensive, public relations consultancy for Fianna Fail Ministers .-even better than the one Martin Cullen commissioned in Waterford( under the personal management of the beautiful Monica Leech.) ?

You can read it all here. Good example of idiotic heckling from the government benches also.

JIM Kennedy.

No relation to Redmond, as far as I know.
