Deirdre Manifold, née Courtney, has died recently on Monday the 25th of March 2013.

Among traditional Catholic circles, and those who follow the issues surrounding Fatima, she was in fact world famous although its notable how little has been written about her on her death unfortunately.

But in some ways she is more famous as Patrick Kavanagh's long term girlfriend although she was said to be about half his age when they met in the late 40s in Dublin. You can see her describe the relationship in this video:

Actually I think it was her who wrote to John A Costello to try and get a job for Kavanagh when his health and financial problems came to a head in the 50s. Costello, the former Taoiseach of course, managed to get him a position in UCD teaching poetry.

She was an intelligent and self confident writer and speaker. Basically her plan was to find out what was the truth in any given situation and then to simply express it, without any fear of ridicule or disrespect. She also put in huge amounts of research and had contacts from all over the world helping her in this including people like Mel Gibson's father. She had a great insight into Irish politics as well but unfortunately ended up very disillusioned as regards the quality of leadership we have had in Ireland, both clerical and lay, since independence. That kind of blunt unadorned assessment of the situation was very Kavanagh like! She says herself that they were very similar in outlook, apparently Kavanagh was also very religious as she was.

Anyway she had been a long time observing Irish politics and knew some of the inside gossip including that Collins was shot by his driver on the orders of the British - as I think I remember her telling me once - which you can read about at length here: Mícéal Ó Cuinneagháin, On the Arm of Time: Ireland 1916-22, (Donegal, 1992).

Deirdre was the author of a number of books including:
Fatima and the great conspiracy (Galway, 1982) (which was translated into French and Polish and you can read it online here: http://www.tnsradio.com/uploads/7/1/4/8/7148904/fatima_and_the_great_conspiracy.pdf )
Karl Marx: True or False Prophet (Galway. 1985) (which was later translated into French)
Towards world government: New World Order (Galway, various editions from 1982 to 2005)
Towards Utopia (Galway, 1998) (a novel on the War of Independence)

She had to publish these books herself because they were too 'conspiratorial' for the main publishers, calling her imprint 'Fírinne' which obviously means 'the truth' in Irish. She also had reprinted a few old and important works like Fr Denis Fahey, Money Manipulation and the Social Order (originally Dublin, 1944). Why she had to go that route she made plain in this quote:

"The same tight Illuminati control is exerted over the big newspaper world as in the television and radio world.

The book publishing business is somewhat different. There are very many courageous Americans who invest in the publishing of books that tell the truth, but the message gets to no more than a small minority that has no power in the political or economic sense. The reason is that the distribution of books, as well as magazines, is in the hands of the same monopolists. If between five and ten percent of the public happens to know what is going on, it is about as much. These books are ridiculed by the media - if they get a mention at all. On the whole such books get the silent treatment, but if they do get a mention, it is only to fling personal abuse at the authors."
(Towards World Government, p.6)
She was suspicious of what really went on during the troubles:

"In this context, I would appeal to my fellow countrymen in Northern Ireland: do you not see that you are puppets on a string, manipulated by "Them," as also are those you believe to be your enemies? ...While you continue the violence, the only winners will be "They". "They" will go on winning and supplying you with arms and money."
(ibid, p.64)
And her view of elections and parties and the supposed left/right divide:

"Only the puppets change, while those manipulating the machine continue unhindered. Voters who wonder why their efforts have failed, wonder in vain."
(ibid, p.11)
Basically she felt that world events were being manipulated by Secret Societies, particularly the Illuminati, to bring about a world government which they call the New World Order. They are going to do this, she outlined: by contrived wars, which in the case of WWI led to the creation of the League of Nations and in the case of WWII to the United Nations and the Nuremburg trials, which expanded the jurisdiction of international law, obvious steps along the road to a world government; contrived economic crashes which were and are to be manipulated to foster greater control among world financial institutions, like the IMF; and she also wrote about how concern for the environment was to be mobilized into a push for a world authority. She also felt that these societies had wormed their way into and corrupted the Catholic Church - which she held very dear - post Vat II, again as part of this preparation towards a New World Order.

Anyway there are a lot of people who think like that now but she was very much a pioneer in this thinking in the early 80s. Lord have mercy on her of course and may we mourn with Galway on the loss of one of her great daughters...

Thank you very much for this post. She sounds like she was a brilliant woman, a real thinker, and I am enjoying learning all about her.

Second Paragraph quotes from that travesty of a fraudulent fake The Protocols of the Elders of Zion..... enough said.
Fake perhaps but if you look around at the influence in media and popular culture the tribe exert (at least in the West), out of all proportion to their numbers, well then it might as well be true. The Holocaust, you'd think only Jews suffered it and boy have they got mileage out of it. Anti-Semitism, you hear about it ad nauseum but of it's cause Semitism, you hear almost nothing.

No. don't think that Jews were solely the victims of The Holocaust.

Every single piece of research that I've read suggests that there were other victims. The camps that I've visited showed the different symbols worn on the sleeves of the victims.

Zoo please!

I disagree.

Knew her, met her several times, her manifold steeliness was legendary and she had a beauty about her.

She presented me with a copy of her book, which I duly threw in the bin, but then with respect for her I took it out again.

I might just read it properly now, even if I might still disagree with some of its content.

I hope her memory rests peacefully with those who loved her!

She was unique, and definitely one of a kind.

Somehow, I already imagine her smiling at the thought of a war mongering neo-con supporter like yourself dancing bitterly on her still fresh grave :)
