If Dukes did not know he should resign. If he did know and did not inform Lenny, then he should resign.

Could Dukes be a Fall Guy, put on the board for a situation such as this?

How can it be that the same management and executives that served under Seanie and are as culpable as he for the failure of Anglo-Irish bank are still in situ? These vipers are earning VAST sums of money at our expense while no doubt still in cahoots with Seanie. Why have there not been mass firings of ALL above a certain level?
Below is an extract from Anglos 2007 Annual Report.

// We operate to the highest ethical and governance
standards as we aspire to be a model corporate citizen.
For this reason we invest heavily in the development and
training of our staff, as well as maintaining the highest levels
of integrity in our relationships with our stakeholders //

Cantstop laughing at that.

To hell with Dukes, I 'd guess he did know, so what?
That Brian Lenihan didn't know is an unmitigated disgrace.

"I wasn't told..."
What a complte and utter slime ball.

Lenihan you have been in control of this bank for nearly a year.
You have known there are massive loans outstanding to Sean Fitzpatrick.
The world and its mother could have made an educated guess that Sean Fitzpatrick was not making repayments but you, you slimey manipulator pull a stunt like "no one told me"
Your Dad would be proud of you with slop like this, technically correct and all designed to try to hang someone else.
If I was Mike Aynsley I would get the next plane back to Oz as he now knows what utter slimeballs he is dealing with and is just a pawn in a giant Fianna Fail ponzi protection scheme.

Let's get something straight.
As controller of a Nationalised bank, the fact that you didn't know the most significant details of the central figure in the whole debacle is no one's fault only yours.

There are only two possible conclusions to be drawn

1. It is staggerring incompetence to imagine that in 9 months while he controlled this bank Brian Lenihan hasn't once asked for an update on Sean Fitzpatrick's affairs or

2. He is lying through his teeth that he didn't know.

There is a scene in Casino where Robert De Niro sacks his casino floor boss for allowing the 1 million jackpot to hit three times in an hour.
he says "Look either you are in on the scam or you are too dense to know its a scam. either way you are no good to me, you're fired.."

In other words you are either a liar or an incompetent.
Capiche Lenny?

Well said.

Dukes has questions to answer too, as to all the directors.

a peoples (taxpayers) representative should be appointed

our Democracy is NOT working

clarity does not exist

I suggest a person(s) appointed by the people (taxpayer) be sent into Anglos HQ

Let them pore over what they wish

Eco,

Alan Dukes is a a non executive director.
He cannot go running to newspapers or RTE shouting the odds. For all you know, there are board minutes where Dukes has demanded an immediate move against SF.
He has therefore for the moment to be given the benefit of the doubt.

Lenihan's disgusting "no one told me" however is slimey and reprehensible.
Its implication is clear that information was withheld.
This is preposterous. What interest would Donal O' Connor or Alan Dukes have in deliberately witholding information on Sean Fitz?Neither worked with him or ever I believe had any ties with him (unlike numerous senior FF'ers, some still in cabinet).

If Lenihan failed to ask a single question about Sean Fitzpatrick's affairs in the 9 months since HE (yes he) took control of Anglo then he is an incomptent of the highest order and should immediately resign.

while the same team are there the same will go on,
leopards do not change their spots

there will always rotton stuff going on

Imagining there are still gangs of people in Anglo secretly beavering away for Seanie is madness.
I doubt there is a single staff member, junior or senior who wouldn't like to enter a dark room with SF armed with a baseball bat.
His actions alone (which 99.5% of the employees knew nothing about) have destroyed these people's reputations and probably their livlihoods forever.
Why in the name of God would they therefore risk jail to secretly destroy evidence and stymie an investigation just to protect such a figure?

anglo irish is fianna fails cess pit of bad debts.

they put mr fg alan dukes on the board-cos their own cronies would run several miles at such an offer !!

mr dukes accepted their poison chalice-as it was a bank directoriship with " good prospects" ie. loot .money and the rest !!!!

so how will he deal with a "dead bank " and directors who dont even pay the interest on the loans they " maneouvered" from their own bank !!

no doubt he will be on the national airwaves next week explaining how he will address these reponsibilities as he collects his fees expenses etc from the defunct anglo fianna fail gangsters bank

independent opinion my arse-he is embedded-bought and paid for !!

yesterdays man-with zero influence !!! used !!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure there were loads of staff in Anglo who hadn't a clue what was going on. But some knew for sure and they have an interest in covering up the fact that they knew so yes, they do have an interest in stymieing an investigation. Their careers are only over if they get a reputation for disloyalty i.e. fessing up. Keep schtum and any prospective employer knows they can expect the same 'loyalty'. Whistleblowing at this stage would finish the ones who did know what was going on.
