This man Raymond Whitehead has got off his backside and drafted quite a serious proposition for democratic reform.

Listening to the first video in background. He isn't a great speaker.

Daniel Hannan and Douglas Carswell are trying something similar in England

Thought that myself tbh but what he's saying is pretty spot on so far as I'm concerned.

Carswell and Hannan are betting bets if you ask me.

All government should be answerable to the public

Direct Democracy is the only genuine democracy. Aristotle made that clear over 2000 years ago. He correctly showed that representation will always be de facto oligarchy.

If there was Direct Democracy, there would be no need for dole. Its only capitalism that creates a massive reserve army of labour, i.e. seperates the people from the means of production.

Very interesting. I've long thought Switzerland could be a model for us. They are the oldest federation in the world. I have family there and visited several times. I'll be checking this organisation out more to see if it's something I can get involved with and help.

Indeed Cael, this group is still active however and they say here they are registering soon as a party.

I cant get down, as working.

LMFM Intervew here with one of the ringleaders!: https://peopleforeconomicjustice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/LMFM-Interview-With-Ben-Gilroy.mp3

I would like to see a lot of people from the middle classes get involved. Iron out the presentation and make it more presentable to a wider audience.

I welcome anyone who has the courage to stand up and say the system of 'so called' democracy we have today is not working.

My issue with direct democracy is the ability of everyone to meaningfully participate in every decision across every subject, possibly to a very detailed and technical level.

We have seen in the latest referenda a difficulty that people have had just in understanding the legal ramifcations of what they will be voting on.

Would we have a referenda on increasing the quality of steel used in aircraft design? Would anyone outside of those trained to understand materials and plane design have any real understanbding or interest?

So yes it could work and I think ultimatley it would be a desirable state of governance but the population would need to be educated to an incredibly high standard and be able to motivate themselves to grasp new subjects and topics as required to ensure they are able to engage in a meaningul manner.

I think there would need to be a transition stage before we could adopt this and make it work.

Not only does this improve democracy, though we need a proper media to ensure that, not La Finucane coughing over her very narrow circle of chums every weekend, the Sindo, or other papers run by tax exiled oligarchs, or Keith Rupert Murdoch, or English pornographers (what happened to that strange creature who published Kate Windsor's breasts, that so offended Dirty Des?) it also castrates our political "elite"

Any group of constitutional solicitors behind the scenes advising this group?

Direct democracy is a great idea, anything that brings government to as local a level as possible is to be welcomed.

I'd be wary of anything from a group that Ben Gilroy is associated with however.
