I have not been idle in the matter of neighbourliness. I have some earphones suitable to jack into the amp combo.

I bet Mr Elvis never had that problem. Probably thought he was in the grip of revivalist fervour or something when spying the young lad next door gyrating away in the back garden back in Tupelo.

I have decided, somewhat tenuously, to contribute to this here Discovering Ireland thread by posting an image of Grace Kelly on Paddy's Day in Chicago or somewhere back in 1954.

Jayze she was some beauty.

Can't do the swanky image thing you trendies get up to but here's a link, read it and weep. grace kelly green dress - Google Search:

Perfect German beauty, as the type has been celebrated from Heinrich Heine to Leni Riefenstahl.

Margaret Katharine Majer's genes were strong.

Mm. But without the Irish element in her background she'd have been just another Beer Festival fraulein.

Before marrying Gerd, the sales manager from Dortmund.

Yep that would be her Irish father, who beat her and humiliated her.

Because sure that's what it takes to make a great screen presence, as many an Irish politician could attest.

It was practically a national hobby at one time. Probably a mixture of repressed sexuality and a psychological misunderstanding between the poles of power and love.

Thing is about Ireland and the Irish though is that we have great stamina. Tend to get better as time goes on.

They run out of steam.

I know, I have seen half a dozen high-riding Irish bastards, who ruled their temporary roost, red arse out, turn into shrunken, frightened little old men.

Bossed about by the daughters they used to smack down. And that is just in my local town. :)

Thanks Guys. Very entertaining. An uncle of mine escorted Grace Kelly into the Shelbourne hotel back in the 1950s. Newspaper photo available on here in the archives. Or I may find it among the rest of my treasures soon enough. ?

But back to politics! A Senator in our Government has sent me a letter from the Seanad Eireann requesting an audience for herself and her Elvis loving husband so that they can enjoy my "great idea" the Elvis Presley Story Museum, Swords.

You'll get sucked into politics, Maurice. Beware of the signs... a black dog crossing your path at sunset ... a cailin crooning on a rock by the river and combing out her hair...

'Nevermore' quoth the Raven...

Thank you, Lumpy. But highly unlikely I step over the creepy crawlies.... :)

Magazine bought in Boston airport August 1997 arriving from Memphis bound for Dublin IE. High above Halifax Nova Scotia my wife Maureen and I were invited to join Captain Henry Howard of Aer Lingus on the flight deck of the Airbus 320! A fine experience. Not available these days.

A nice coincidence: The Airbus Captain had attended St Michaels CB school in Inchicore. So did I, but a decade before him. We survived. :)

Not to any acceptable extent for other human beings, no. However I like my decades long attempt at music because it adds a certain something to my hearing of good musicians playing.

I now know enough about music to be less than dangerous but to be properly impressed by good musicians of any kind.

Back from a wonderful month in Thailand. Newgrange on facebook today. Always a pleasure to visit.

Now busy again with Ireland's first Elvis Presley Story Museum here in Swords.
A journalist with The Irish Times was here to see the unique collection of Elvis memorabilia more than a month ago but nothing transpired it is not a very Elvis friendly paper. :) Having said that, they have published some of my Elvis stories and letters in the past. Rare events tho'.
