Simon Coveney would quite possibly be an executive with Greencore like his brother who is the CEO. This is Ireland; nepotism rules prominent.
On the basis of a "quite possibly"?

Probably the same basis that Ruth Coppinger said today, that he has no "empathy" because of the four week backlog in maternity payments.
I don't think I'll take any lessons on empathy from a woman who advocates virtually unrestricted abortion, thanks very much.

Helps to be a multi-millionaire before entering politics, wouldn't you say? Makes gestures like that a lot easier.
All the more reason for his public service to be commended.

Unlike parasite Enda Kenny who's entire life's income has been at the expense of the public purse, in terms of his salary and his profligate expense claims.

Jim O'Callaghan SC, Dr Reilly, Dr Varadakar, Consultant Donnelly, Solicitor Shatter, educator Zappone, etc
would not consider Varadker/Shatter/Reilly or Zappone capable of anything only massaging their own inflated ego's.

let alone run anything ? funny that ? they made a complete b0ll1x of their jobs and have not distinguished themselves in anyway except show us how conceited they are?

Zappone is the biggest joke of them all, utterly rubbish and the first thing she got a hold of was the taxpayer funded travel expenses for TDs, nice little fiddle, (and she "teaches" ETHICS ???? ) and gave two fingers to homeless IRish people in their own Country by ensuring people from the third world with no connection to here lived free for life far, far away from her house?? hypocrite ! yet again.

We are fed up with these clowns cloaking themselves with rhetoric designed for the liberal media and their future book deals while the real world is just appalled by their factual ineptitude at actually doing something effective for the people that voted for them.

Micheal Martin. All that stops him, like all FF leaders before, is his selfless and unwaivering commitment to the service of the public.
When he explains the 5K via the girlfriend???

And previous FF leaders.... well Biffo drank himself silly while he brought this country too it's knees.
Bertie conned all around him, apparently! He took back handers, but MM and his good mates Ray Burke, Liam Lawlor etc. saw nuthin...

Any opinion on ex FG Minister Lowry?
How did he manage to repay the FG debt?
How did he manage to make a millionaire out of DOB?

Don't run just yet.

Varadkar never practiced I thought, doubt he could at this stage without serious training. Doesn't seem the caring sort anyway to be honest. The big money requires a fair few more years in education that Vlad might not enjoy.
Varadker spent seven years in Blanchardstown hospital - apparently is a qualified GP.

He is also very good at saying 'I'm sorry' and then doing nothing to fix the problem.

I think you can probably make a distinction between pols who enter politics after they have already established a career for themselves doing something else, and those whose only career is politics itself. The former group seem to be the more energetic, idealistic and unfortunately more likely to drop out of politics if they don't achieve what they set out to do.

Did Vlad ever practice as a doctor?

I assume you mean Stephen Donnelly?

When you get to Zappone, you're reaching...

Actually I think Gerry Adams could have done incredibly well for himself if he had instead of getting wrapped up in politics moved to England and focused on business.

Assuming that we are talking about Irish politicians, the whole gang are in it for themselves. Whether they "would do better for themselves in the private sector" is not the issue as they actually do better for themselves in both the public and private sector.

Power and greed are the objectives. Remember Lord Kinsealey as the prime example!

Of course Shatter and McDowell are not exactly on the breadline as indeed all the retirees of that house of horrors that is Leinster House.

Yes. Hundreds. And you picked four out of tens of thousands, (one of which there are zero allegations of any form of personal enrichment against) which doesn't exactly nail down your case.

By the way being in politics doesn't keep Lowry out of prison, if there's a case against him it'll be brought regardless of whether he's a TD or not, and history shows that.
So, name a few of those hundreds. The purpose of this thread is to help people prep for the next GE by understanding who among the candidates are genuinely in the game for "public service". Opinion so far isn't very favourable, so maybe you could shed some light.

On Lowry - Lowry tax trial deferred - Tipp FM - this case now kicked into 2019...for a possible tax irregularity in 2003. I'd say being able to offer the weak, sniveling government an ould vote has something to do with that - don't you?

Such gestures are a lot easier when one is a multi-millionaire. So would you commend Quinn's public service ahead of a TD or Senator who had no other source of income, and therefore did claim a Dail or Seanad salary?

Unlike parasite Enda Kenny who's entire life's income has been at the expense of the public purse
You realise he's been in full-time employment of the state all that time, don't you? Since when was it parasitic to draw a salary for work?

in terms of his salary
What's parasitic about drawing the official salary for the job he's doing?

and his profligate expense claims.
What's profligate about his expense claims?

If you mean more lucrative then people like McDowell makes much more money outside of politics than in it. The solicitors probably earn money from their firms while in politics anyway.
The great Donie Cassidy and Albert Reynolds would be a couple of exceptions but Donie seemed to get some great deals while in politics to, the airport bars etc.
And one that few know about is the sideline of the great Sean Barrett, insurance for the Geegees.
