Musical tastes say a lot about a politician. But musicians often say the opposite of what politicians want to hear.

Trump on Neil Young: “He’s got something very special. I’ve listened to his music for years… His voice is perfect and haunting.”

But Mr. Young has this to say about his admirer:

“The man—Trump, the president of the United States—is a mess. He has no balls. He hasn’t got one ball. He literally has nothing.”

With regards to why there aren't more protest songs he has this to say:

Why don’t you think there are any good Trump protest songs or albums? I certainly haven’t heard any.
There’s nowhere for them to be played! The whole media thing is under tight control—it’s all formats, and you have to fit into a format. When “Ohio” came out there were no formats; it was heard everywhere. It was a new song and people played it.
Two questions spring to mind, who is the more influential and who is the better politician?

Well they are both musicians in a way. Neil Young's achievements are known but Trump plays the harpsichord only for people who have declared themselves as fans of his brand of music before he has ever struck a note.

Trump is President, and proving to be a pretty good one. So he is definitely the better politician.

And for all his protest songs, Young never brought a despotic and dangerous country to the negotiating table. So Trump is definitely the more influential.

Anything else I can help you with?

He said he was going to drain the swamp but instead it drained him. Yes he has been a lot better than Hilary would have been but so would have Lumpy Talbot on here.

I doubt Trump ever brought anyone anywhere other than Stormy to the bank. China will have had much more to do with Kim Jong-Un's apparent volte face than the bloke with the pub carpet on his head.

There are no protest songs because in the main the level of articulation against Trump is the level of cnt, balls, orange moron. Songs of resistance are not about sulky resistors.

You can't sulk your way to the revolution.

Young should be far more concerned about the direction taken by his own country instead.

On the question of Music and Trump has anyone noticed that the widespread calls that have been going around for Kanye West to be boycotted over his vocal support for Trump don't appear to be having the required effect.

The Top 7 Songs on Apple Music & Spotify Are From Kanye West's 'ye' Album

In contrast Eminems marketing campaign consisting of attacking Trump couldn't prevent his recent musical release bombing without trace.

The idea of Lumpy as POTUS is enough to give people nightmares. :)

The white angry trailer park trash routine got old fast and Eminem is washed up and irrelevant to today's world.

Yes, but first Trump had to turn the USA into a despotic and dangerous country before turning up at the table.

Trump is the worst thing to have happened to the US in years, but boycotting someone just because they voted for him and support him takes intolerance to another level.

Protest songs were a fashion 50 bloody years ago among naive young people. They change nothing. Jesus, who believes in their power anymore?
Trump will get his answer at the ballot box in 2020, when his following in the rust belts realise that despite all his cheap, angry rhetoric, they were sold a bummer, by a billionaire bum who has further enriched his very rich friends with tax cuts, at their expense and done bugger all else. Despite all his nonsense they'll still be working shifts in as many as three low paid jobs to make ends meet.

As per last Friday's employment report American workers are on average 80 cents per week better off than they were a year ago
Down at the low and no pay level, they are in fact worse off

When Joe Sixpack's wife finally works up enough courage to tell her Trump adoring spouse this news and jolt him out of his Fox sponsored fairy tale world back to reality, there will be a reckoning
Even as it is, Trump would be wiped in rust belt as of now

Hmm, almost as if the most vocal are actually a minority.

Kanye is a tit imho but the people who are trying to silence Kanye are doubly so.

Resist! Don't play Kanye. Man, these people are space cadets.
