The draw for RWC 2019 will take place in the Blobby Sands Memorial Hall, Kyoto tomorrow (Wed) starting at 9.00 am Irish Time.

It can be watched live on Eir Sport

and www.rugbyworldcup.com will live stream the event.

We're seeded in Band 1 along with the ABs, the Orcs, and the Wallabies, meaning that we won't be drawn against them.

Band 2 is Scotland, France, South Africa, Wales.

Band 3 is Argentina, Japan, Georgia and Italy.

And so on.

Total and utter farce.

The top 4 seeds should be NZ,SA,AUZ and Arg.

Arg were screwed over by being put in pot 3.

Great draw for Ireland.

The draw is way too early. It should be 6 months beforehand like in soccer.

What is that flag that is representing Ireland? Looks like something from Vinegar Hill.

It's the IRFU's "Four Provinces" flag, designed in 1925.

This is Vinegar Hill:-

The Pumas are in pot 3 because the FAR decided not to pick their overseas players for last autumn's tour, so they fell in the world rankings. Compare this to the IRFU who are busily signing up so-called "project players" - aka plastic paddies - from other countries (Strauss, Payne, Stander, Bealham, etc. plus possibly Bundee Aki and Blyendal in the future) in an attempt to make our team stronger.

It's part of the Argies' long-term player development strategy that they reckon/hope will pay dividends in RWC 2019 and beyond. I really hope that it works for them.

I hate that the draw is carried out so early. I know it's later than last time but it's still 2.5 years away. A lot of rugby to be played in the meantime.

So we got Scotland and Japan in our group.

Not a bad draw.
It's a good draw.

But our Q/F hoodoo could still be about.

If the winner of our group has to play the runner up in the SA/NZ group then we could be in trouble.
