Melbourne car deaths: Three killed as driver strikes pedestrians - BBC News

Three dead and 29 injured including one critical after a car ploughed into pedestrians in Melbourne. The driver has been apprehended. Police has been looking for him after a stabbing incident earlier in the city. Not believed to be terrorist linked. That said it will cause further disquiet about the vulnerability of western populations to lone wolf style incidents.

Shades of Henry street in 2002. Real bad. Police chase wouldn't have helped.

Driver shouted allahu akbar but in this case, it's an *actual* case of criminality/mental illness. A 3 month old was knocked clear of her buggy and is now in intensive care. For anyone who's been a parent to a 3 month old, no further embellishment of that horror is necessary.

This sociopathic waste of skin was bailed on Wednesday.

Distant observers may be interested to know that the state of Victoria is becoming wild and crime ridden since the election of the last government. I'll leave it open for guessing as to what the governing ideology of the state government is.

When you heard the police claim that there were 'mental health issues' involved then it was obviously a Muslim, among whom this disease seems to be rapidly spreading!! :)

PS that is a pisstake in case anyone takes it seriously. His name appears to be of Greek extraction.

The national government is Liberal and the head of state is the Queen of England. How much blame do you apportion to them?

An amount proportionate to their influence on criminal bail and incarceration policy. Which is to say: NONE

Have the Holy Synod even condemned this yet?

Their silence is deafening.

No it looks to be a simple case of a screw loose at this stage.
sorry, but if it wasn't a "muzzie" acting on behalf of the "Religion of Peace",
you're thread won't take off,
the usual Islamophobes - sorry, suspects, will have to restrain themselves for a little longer.

Too much speculation in these cases. Why mention terrorism at all unless there is some evidence? The next thing will be 'Russia isn't believed to be responsible' after every story.

"The police say the man is known to them, and has a long history of family violence, drug issues and mental health problems."

There was a time when such people would have been detained in a secure location for their own safety and for the protection of others.

Happily, in these enlightened times, such facilities are no longer regarded as appropriate for these individuals. It's considered far better for society as a whole that they be allowed to mingle freely with their fellow citizens without any restraints or supervision.

I assume that some smartassed young lawyer will be appearing in some Melbourne Courthouse shortly to argue strongly that he should be released on bail.

Just 16 responses showed there was no mass jumping to any conclusion.
But I'm sure that doesn't make you happy either.
