In more ways the one clearly, but what how did these number of MEPs come about?

Dublin - Electorate 884,118, MEPs 4, Electorate per MEP 221,029
North West - Electorate 1,224,888, MEPs 4, Electorate per MEP 306,222 - 40% more than Dublin!
South - Electorate 1,417,017, MEPs 5, Electorate per MEP 283,403

With these size constituencies, clearly should be Dublin 3 MEPs and the others 5?

Or why is Kildare in the North West, surely has more in common with Dublin than culchie counties?

Or simply go back to 4 constituencies again? There were 4 when there were 12 MEPs and now only 3 when 13?

Its not really comparing like with like though, Scooby, given that 2 constituencies have cold-storage seats that wont be activated until after Brexit which may not happen.

So it would have been the same set up anyway? So what has cold storage to do with it?

What it has to do with it is that Brexit might not happen, therefore the ratios of population to seat would not be as they are if the cold storage seats are taken up.

Even if you assume cold storage and Dublin will have 3, there is no way South should only have 4 in relation to that.

Culchie counties? In this day and age? But what do you think of the darkies, and the yids?
Is this an example of your persuasive charm?

A lot of us in rural Ireland feel that Dublin already has outsized influence anyway, particularly when it comes to infrastructure and employment.

Based on population not electorate, Dublin has far more young people/ foreign nationals etc who are not entitled to vote than the other 2 regions, the same is repeated in General elections Donegal last GE quota 12,200 Dublin central quota 5900.

Maybe if your town wasn't such a sh!thole you could attract more immigrants and benefit from lower election quotas
