Is there any politician in this country as populist and two faced as Eamon Gilmore.

How exactly does one go from being a member of Official Sinn Fein with extreme socialist beleifs of the early seventies to that of a guy earning almost 200k a year whilst presiding over the taxing of family homes and cutting child benefit?

He refuses to accept that ordinary workers will have to pay most of the debt and boldly declares that his party will "not hit middle-income Ireland".
But at the same time he has promised:

Not to raise the existing tax rates
Not to introduce a property tax on residential homes
Not to cut social welfare from €196
Not to cut child benefit

No. He beats the competition in that respect.

Yes I am
Not surprising from a man who claims he was inspired by Thatcher.

Leading Lights - Author: Eamon Gilmore - Liberties Press

Gilmore's inspirations range from family and colleagues, his grandmother Ellen Gilmore and Prionsais DeRossa, to internationally influential figures such as Martin Luther King. There are also some surprises, such as the 'Iron Lady' of British politics, Margaret Thatcher, musician Seán O'Riada and playwright Seán O'Casey spicing up the list.

How is he getting on with reducing the deficit ?
I thought after the sale of a site to the OPW there would not be any deficit.

Not to mention being a TD for over twenty years.

How is this?

Gilmore's advisers.
Mark Garret salary (168,000 euro per annum) 90% above pay cap limit.
Colm O Reardon salary (155,000 euro per annum) 70% above pay cap limit.
Jean O'Mahoney salary (80,000 euro per annum)

And then three weeks ago he hired another one.
Niamh Sweeney salary (80,000)

That is nearly a whopping 500,000 euro per annum to the state with those four advisers.

Nonsense. That could not be true.

With Thatcher, it always did what it said on the tin. As far as we know she was not an accomplished hypocrite.
Maybe it's because it's late, but I'm tiring of all the hate.

Having said that, Gilmore's NI stance was pretty much on song with Maggie's, though possibly even more extreme, at least in terms of language.

Weird, if it was anywhere else, but not weird here.

He's spot on with those two. What maniac decided that you'd get more -as in increased - child benefit for every child ? And what maniac - yeah , CJH - thought that no local taxes would be a clever stroke ?
