A meeting of the Ecofin Eurogroup is taking place early today. We should be expecting an announcement shortly.

RTE is reporting that the cabinet last night agreed the terms of the 85bn bailout.

The Government issued a statement just after 1pm saying that the cabinet last night authorized the Minister for Finance to travel to Brussels to conclude negotiations with the EU Finance Ministers. Details of the agreement are expected this afternoon.

Statement on the current negotiations.

The negotiations which have been underway with representatives of the
European Commission, the ECB and the IMF are concluding today. The Government met last night and were briefed on the progress which had been made.

The Government decided to proceed to conclude a Programme on that basis and authorised the Minister for Finance to finalise the negotiations at a meeting of the EU Finance Ministers in Brussels this afternoon.

It is expected that the Programme for assistance to Ireland will be adopted at this Ministerial meeting. It is anticipated on that basis that details of the agreement will be published later this afternoon.

They still havn't decided interest rate. Sky reporting "French FM says interest rate undecided".

Is this coming down to the corporation tax again, or are we away past that at this stage?

George Osborne sounded like Ireland's Mammy on Sky news earlier. He's going to help ensure Ireland gets sorted out.

The Irish citizens are being kept in the dark by their 'government'.

If interest rate is not announced today then that will just do wonders for the markets tomorrow!

Probably the most important meeting in our history - certainly since the meeting in Downing Street, 89 years ago. The December 1921 meeting marked the beginning of independence. Today's, will formally stamp its end.

RTE news at 1, interview with Olli Rehn, interview with George Osborne but Lenihan the traitor is on the company jet, so no time to talk to the peasants.

No idea whats going on, which is probably consistent with the Government.

An idiot in a suit is still and idiot.

Having agreed to the penal interest rate, Corpo Tax must now be doubled to help pay the bill.
Game, set and match.
Analyse the events at leisure, when people here tire of the blame games and name calling in say, 2 years time?
It's so easy to defeat the Irish.

As Marx said: "History repeats itself: first as tragedy, second as farce".

According to Michael Noonan on This Week the indications are that the Senior Bondholders in Anglo and Irish Nationwide along with the Subordinated Bondholders in AIB will be burned as part of the deal.

Please, let's not be too harsh on ourselves.

We may be bankrupt, but at least we haven't handed over our sovereignty too...
