In what is surely a contrarian indicator, Eddie Hobbs has an advertisement on the front page of the Sunday Business Post declaring "the investment cycle is returning" (whatever that means). He is seeking to inflict his advice on us again, with minimum investment of €500k required. What type of people still pay money to this chap?

Looking at the Property Section of the Sunday Business Post, you would think the Property market is exploding too... God love Eddie, house still for sale on the Curragh and all is returning to "normal".... whats my name?

If he says it often enough, he's bound to be right sometime: but I'll hold on to my hard earned cash for waht it's worth , thank you very much.

I would not buy any property without first checking the length of the queue at the Jobs Fair in the RDS next weekend.

Here is a hint for the Hobbit - people working in Alberta or Perth don't need to buy real estate in South Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, etc....

Step 5: Eddie takes his fees
Step 6: ???
Step 7: profit
While there is evidence to prove the existence of steps 1 to 5, it is stretching credibility to include step 7.

Investment cycle returning? Well US economy recovering, global growth estimated at 3.5% afaik, Cash deposits negative against inflation. Risk assets are well priced so basic message appears correct. Not unwelcome to see firms spending money advertising positive messages for first time instead of scare ads about safety products. Part of the recovery has to be risk capital moving out of banks into investments again. It's been five long years.

Agreed with others, Snake oil salesman who courts TV and Media opportunities to sell us his products.

But he does have a point, investment is growing in Ireland thanks to the Fine Gael government, more and more major companies are being attracted to Ireland and investing here.

Christ even HBAP would not come out with nonsense like that - have the blueshirts employed some intern and allowed them access to the web?

Eddie Hobbs - TV3 - The Euro Collapse - YouTube

gold anyone? Euro collapse? ata boy Eddie you tell the punters

Commodities Brief
Eddie's prediction of Italy failing. Well, it could happen yet. And if anything, things are worse now, with the post-Mitterand clowns running France.

Some vintage commentary.

"At the moment economics is being run by politicians. That's a scary place to be. You only have to look at our crowd to see that".

[ was this a reference to Moan telling the people "we are in this recession, because we've run of money" ??? ]

"If Italy fails, we are looking at an economic krakatoa".

"the bond market is a proxy for the banking system".

Hobbs is correct concerning the Irish media keeping the people in the dark. In fact, I would go so far as to say that that this is the primary objective of the Irish media.
