Eirigi Councillor Louise Minihan has been formally charged by the Gardai for the paint attack on Minister for Health Mary Harney last month.

Minihan was arrested in her home this morning at 9.30am and taken to Ballyfermot Garda Station where she was charged with three offenses:

  • Assault on Mary Harney
  • Damage to property, namely Mary Harney's dress
  • Causing a breach of the peace

In a statement from Eirigi Cllr Minihan said she stood over her actions:

"When I poured the red paint over Mary Harney's clothes I did so knowing full
well that I would be charged with some offense or other. This state has shown
time and again that there is one law for the rich and powerful and one law for
the rest of us. As Minister for Health Mary Harney has been directly
responsible for the unnecessary suffering and deaths of countless people, yet
instead of punishment she gets reward in the form of massive wages, expenses
and ministerial perks."

I sincerely hope that she is given a big fine and preferably a suspended sentence and bound to the peace for two years. She is a disgrace, she is undemocratic and she should not be a councillor.

No you stupid stupid woman - there is one law for everyone - you cannot pour paint over anyone without consequences now take your fine and your bind to the peace and grow up. Act like an adult if you want to represent adults. Act like a thug and prepare to be treated as one.

Another hero that will be recorded correctly in the history books wrote in the future, unlike all the keyboard warriors who condone her actions but groan and moan about the state of the country.

Maybe you think they Irish should have shoved daisy`s into the black and tans riffles.

Right and proper. There is a fringe on the looney-Left that think they have a right to resort to unconstitutional-activities to further their politics. In a constitutional democracy they do not. She needs to be made an example of.

Fair play to her. She has done more IRL than most of the wind bags who post here sure.

I condemn Minahans actions.

Bringing charges against this women merely gives her another martyrs platform from which to rant.

Sensible thing to do would have been to forget it.

Perhaps Harney will see sense and not pursue it further now that charges have been issued.

LOL Hope Harney sues her for libel over the statement too. What a tool this Minihan one is.

She probably will not be the last to revolt?

Will she be punished like the array of the bankers, regulators, developers, tds etc that bankrupted Ireland ? Will she ......

So for a relatively trivial offence you are happy to give this unhinged female the oxygen of public martyrdom and perhaps set a new trend in protesting behaviour?

I sincerely hope that Harney is given a big fine and preferably a sentence and forced on a diet for two years. She is a disgrace, she is undemocratic and she should not be a minister.

There is a fringe on the loony right who once had an utterly repellent party led by an utterly repellent woman as a junior member of government. This party exercised monstrously disproportionate power and influence relative to its size and managed to get its crackpot economic policies implemented over 7 years. Their policies led to where we are today; bankrupt, stripped of our independence. She needs to be made an example of. Never, ever again with moronic neo-liberal rubbish.

Your odium for Minihan has overcome your common sense.
A public legal spat is exactly what Minihan wants.
Those who advocate such positions are dancing very nicely to Eirigis jigs.

Nah, I was just commenting on the stupidity of the statement. All she will get is a fine anyway.

*must have word with judge*
