BBC tonight: Reuters news agency quoted senior EU sources as saying the loans would total 80-90bn euros.

At lunchtime today Richard Crowley was told by Brian Lenihan that the figures would be 'nothing like that' when Crowley put that range to him.

In fairness, he said it wouldn't be more than 100. 80 billion's 20% under that, which would count as "Nothing like that" to me.

But don't think those figures include the bi-lateral loans from the UK and Sweden, so in essence we will prob see near the 100 billion mark.

Was it when he said he hadn`t read the PwC report on the banks cover to cover :) :)

Cop on will ye. Everything he says is incorrect.

It is amazing but every FF politician compulsively lies automatically when asked a question. Even when it makes absolutely no sense to do so.

Lenihan has acted this way every time he has been questioned.

Financial Times has similar numbers

The bail-out is expected to total €80bn-€90bn, according to people briefed on the discussions,

FT.com / Brussels / Economy - Eurozone agrees

Lenihan is spoofing us to the last. The contempt they have for us knows no bounds.

Why are you surprised?

They've lied so much to date they don't know when to stop! Probably don't know the difference between good and bad. Back to junior infants lads.

The most infuriating thing about that piece of crap, was that R.T.E cut away from the broadcast when vincent brown kept pressuring brian Cowen about his involvement in this crisis! F..kxxg outragous behaviour by a state broadcaster, we all had to change to sky news to hear the rest of it! FFn censoring what we can hear! Corrupt bxsxxxds, Last licence I'm buying after that. Send complaint to R.T.E for cutting short the broadcast!

@myksav

The government has the facts and is keeping them from you.

The EU has the facts and there are reports on their facts carried in the BBC and Financial Times quoted in this thread.

I was flicking between BBC/SKY and RTE and noticed that there was a time delay in the RTE broadcast, guess to give them time to censor awkward questions like Browne's. Think it has been proved in the last week that we are better off relying on the foreign stations for the truth, will be interested to see what Bloomberg will have to say later, they are reporting that the Euro is gaining as a result of the Ireland bailout and

"Ireland mourns loss of sovernnity as Cowan scorned for German bailout"

Lenihan couldn't get the figures of a Playboy centerfold with a tape measure.
