The European Commission will give conditional approval for Turks to travel without visas to Europe's passport-free Schengen area, sources have told the BBC.

The move is part of a deal in which Turkey is taking back migrants who have crossed over the Aegean Sea to Greece.

But Turkey must still meet EU criteria, and the deal must be approved by the European Parliament and member states.

The EU fears that without a visa deal, Turkey will not control migration.

Was this the whole point of Merkel's migrant policy all along, Turkey into the EU by the backdoor ?

How will this affect Brexit ?

Yes, cause that'll be great for our export market over there.
It doesn't have to be this way. The trade model that is the EU could be changed or reinvented. Why does the union have to go toward monetary and political union? The EU could be a partnership of equal trading nations with favourable work permits for member state citizens as the market requires. The EU as is now is going to destroy the nation that is/was Ireland. Uncontrolled immigration is not working. 40% of people on the housing waiting list are non Irish citizens. Who will pay to house these people and maintain the dwellings? An EU of independent trading nations is the only way. The fact that SF are now ardent EU supporters shows how damaged the EU has become. Lets hope for a Brexit and the freedoms that will pour from it.

Hands up who voted for any of this?

Huh?

The EU has no mandate for this expansion. EU can ************************ off.

Visa-free travel for Turks is the least odious part of the migrant deal. It puts them on the same footing as Albania or Moldova for visiting the EU, rather than e.g. queuing the whole day to make a short business trip.

Don't we have visa free travel arrangements with the US?

And isn't it still pretty feckin' difficult and a bit of a process to enter the States even with such an arrangement?

And isn't the US still in full control of who is allowed in and who isn't allowed in?

I am certainly no fan of what the EU has become and I'm no supporter of further expansion or integration... but this is a bit of a non issue that someone is trying to present as a major issue... imo...

Visa free travel... so what?

Turks still have to be processed and they still have to go through border controls just like they do now.

And afaik Turkey issues regular warnings about various individuals all the time... or at least it was reported they did about some of the Brussels bombers which the Belgians failed to act on...

Sorry... not seeing this is as the major issue it's being presented as.

Hopefully it will tip the brits into leaving.
Indeed - then the Turkish migrants can come to you.

I'm sure the P.ie Migrant Welcoming Committee will be ready with a red carpet and the ould céad míle fáilte eh?

Meanwhile we'll keep the Irish migrants you lot didn't want here in the UK.

Shure they're much better craic than the miserable ould sods who stayed at home!

Sláinte
