One big week when crucial questions about Europe will be answered:
1. Can Sweden win and knock Ireland off the top of the heap?
2. How will Australia do in their second outing?
3. Will Germany take more than douze point from the Turks?
4. Will Greek and Cypriot solidarity hold once more?
5. Will anyone remember who represented Ireland this week in Stockholm in a years time,
6. Indeed will Bertie's son in law and spouse of a failed National Song Contest competitor go one better than Cliff Richard?

The show must go on!

You forgot the most important question; does anyone care?

It's just so Gay ?

The irony cannot be lost on Graham Norton ? but sure he gets a big pay packet.

Musically it is dire, shouty, self absorbed presenters with zero charisma or comic timing, rigged voting, turgid "we are one" crap in every second song,,

yep, it's the EU in stereo sound,,

that's all the 2 minutes I see of it for another year,

Isn't it a big 'camp' occassion?
It is, but let's remind ourselves that's better than a big tent at Galway races occasion.

I only watches it for the voting, and of course to emote on the Cork guy not being a patch on the Limerick guy in any department.

What's Willie O'Dea got to do with it?

6 posts in and already a subtle dig at Ronan Keating. To be fair Marty Whelan is so delectable, just imagine if Marty Morrissey presented for RTE instead?

Its based on an alliance of TV companies, not nations. Originally it was European TV stations but there's no reason any national broadcaster cannot join the group. Some of the members do not take part in Eurovision, a name dreamed up in the distant past which just stuck so it is still used. The song contest is the best known activity the alliance of TV types get up to but by no means the only one. They swap programs, co-produce stuff and lots of other stuff.

Now you know. It has nothing to do with EU either which some people seem to think.

The Eurovision is the soft politics of the EU.

Expect Australia's application to be treated favourably.
It has zero to do with the EU. Sorry. You do not have to be in the EU to be in the EBU.

You seem rather paranoid. Maybe seek treatment? There are literally hundreds of pan-European organisations which have zero to do with the EU.

Yes, but what of our close neighbours. You're suggesting the strength of the leave side in opinion polls is nothing to do with their execrable showing in recent Eurovisions.

Don't think that anyone else is saying that!
