What this man has done seems no more egregious than what many TD's have done, yet he faces a long incarceration. Our lot, if we are lucky, offer to repay their ill-gotten gains. We really don't have a clue in this country.

Offer to repay? Beligerantly.

Then they get on their high horse and sneer at us citizens that have the temerity to call their integrity into question.

It's nice to see what should happen in a functional democracy.

He'd be promoted here and possibly touted as a presidential candidate.

When O'Donoghue's greed got too great and he was forced to resign I remember reading an apologia for his behaviour by Eoghan Harris who suggested that his use of a chauffeur driven car between terminals in Heathrow was for "security" reasons rather than his own bloated self-importance. When commentators are reduced to excusing excesses like that then there will never be a reckoning

If there was any justice in this country Ahern, Cowen and Lenihan would by now be behind bars and facing as a minimum many decades of incarceration for the social and economic destruction of this country....

There are NO standards in public life and NO accountability in this miserable, corrupt, dumb kleptocracy "governed" by a criminal syndicate and masquerading as a republic.

In Ireland he'd probably get a promotion and the gombeen voters would come out in force to elect him again.
