Lord Ross of Stepaside courts controversy again this time he gifts €150k to a private fee paying school, and a private members only golf club both in his constituency. When will these scrounging scum learn to stand on their own two feet and learn to support themselves instead of suckling on the tit of the tax payer?

Whilst sorts clubs from other less affluent areas receive paltry sums.

FG's new politics shinning through.

Yea it's terrible when those who pay their taxes actually get something back from the government.
It should have gone to a single traveller family with 22 kids instead (4 of whom identify as gender fluid) to alleviate your sensibilities.

I don't think k the problem is the school getting a faculty per say. It's Ross doing exactly the parish pump thing he got voted in as a protest against.

So, alongside some major projects are the minor ones: Dublin county inevitably comes out on top with €12.76 million in funding, including 26 maximum allocations of €150,000 for projects such as the renewal of the all-weather pitch at Ballymun Kickhams GAA club, while Deerpark Tennis Club received just €1,451 for essential equipment replacement.

No doubt people will say that teenagers have nothing to do.

They have a faculty (existing hockey pitches) which they hire out and make a profit from

That is a private fee paying school can someone explain to me how a private fee paying school is entitled to tax payers money ? The private fee paying school gets its money from its customers ? Isn't that the whole point of it being fee paying and private maybe im wrong ?

The school I could almost forgive but a private golf club? Can the minister not afford his own membership?

You have been wrong about that since the foundation of the state, it seems.

They often don't even have to put their hand out for it.

Like the line that the sports grants are for sports facilities in disadvantaged areas.

Imagine the outrage of Ross the journo if he spotted John o Donoghue doing this.

Its the FG way. Privatised operations get tax write offs and money/ favours from the state because they are morally superior to state operations ( and they are mates with FG).

facility.

You're both very welcome.

But seriously, this sort of thing is really infuriating.

"On appeal" almost always means "once the politicians have become involved."

Education.
the entire teaching and administrative force of a university, college, or school.
one of the departments of learning, as theology, medicine, or law, in a university.
the teaching body, sometimes with the students, in any of these departments.

Stick it up yet arse.

So by my count, if the 880 pupils in Old Wesley who cost 6250 a year really wanted 150k for their pitch, it would have needed a one off 3% bump in fee. Which doesn't seem unreasonable to self fund given there's inevitably more needy locations for this cash.
