Boston official: Video footage shows bomb suspect

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/18/us/boston-investigation-moves-into-third-day.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

(CNN) -- Investigators scrambling to solve the fatal bombings at the Boston Marathon want to question a man seen on video as a possible suspect in the attack, two official sources with knowledge of the investigation said Wednesday.
The sources identified the person as a man wearing a white baseball cap. One of the sources added that the cap was on backwards and the man was also wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and a black jacket. The second source said investigators have not identified this person.
The news comes on a day when authorities have made "significant progress" in the case but no arrests, a federal law enforcement source told CNN's John King. Sources previously told CNN that a suspect was in custody, but both Boston police and the FBI denied that any arrests had been made.
In addition, a federal law enforcement source told CNN that "anyone who says 'arrest' is ahead of themselves."
A Boston law enforcement told CNN, "We got him," but wouldn't clarify whether that meant a suspect has been identified or arrested. Some federal sources said it was even too early to say investigators had identified the suspect, but several sources in Boston told CNN that they have a clear identification.
Two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing have been singled out in surveillance videos of the scene, sources told Tribune newspapers on Wednesday.

U.S. counter-terrorism and law enforcement officials told Tribune newspapers that the suspects in the Boston bombings were seen in a department store video that caught images of a man leaving a backpack near the finish line.

A second federal official said he has been briefed that authorities believe a second video or photo showed "two men with two backpacks."
The descriptions of the suspect(s) are vague and leave out pertinent details: height, build, gender and race?

It would be useful to show the aforesaid video in order to ascertain the identity of the possible suspects, and exclude them quickly if necessary. Why leave out these important details?

Update! White male:

CBS News: Possible Suspect In Boston Marathon Bombings Identified « CBS Boston

WHITE MALE ON VIDEO

However, CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reported Wednesday afternoon that authorities have identified at least one person they want to speak with, either as a witness or as a possible suspect, from surveillance video.

The man sought as a possible suspect is a white male, wearing white baseball cap on backwards, a gray hoodie and a black jacket, according to CBS News.

Several media outlets reported that a suspect had been identified from surveillance video taken at the Lord & Taylor store on Boylston Street. The store is between the sites of the two bomb blasts, which killed three people and wounded more than 170.

Orr said authorities have video of a man in a black jacket on a cell phone, wearing a gray hoodie and a white baseball cap backwards placing a black bag at the second bomb site outside of the Forum restaurant on Boylston Street and then leaving the area before that explosion.

Orr said the man was on the phone at the second bomb site when the first bomb exploded.

Yeah, "Feds" is the approved abbreviation for "agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation". It's perhaps the most efficient abbreviation ion the world, compressing 15 syllables down to 1. So show it some respect!

Update!!! Photos!! Mixture of Whites and Middle Easterners sought for questioning

Some pics from Infowars:

» Boston Bombing Culprits Identified? Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

UPDATE: FBI briefing on Boston bombings postponed. The FBI said it “needs more time to prepare” before speaking to the media. Struggling to get their narrative straight in the aftermath of numerous men with backpacks being identified?
Photos collated on the 4chan website show numerous images of suspicious individuals wearing large backpacks present at the scene of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Three of the men appear to be Arab or Middle Eastern in appearance, whereas another two of the individuals are white.
The images show the men looking away from the marathon runners, talking on cellphones and running from the scene immediately after the blast.
Remains of one of the backpacks are also photographed yards from where one of the bombs exploded. The FBI states that at least one of the pressure cooker devices used in the bombing was housed in a backpack.
Some of these men may have merely been victims, but the image of the two men standing together wearing the same clothes and carrying heavy backpacks and wearing credentials suggests they may have been involved in a drill or in the actual attack. One of individuals, a white man whose backpack was found at the scene of the bombing, looks badly dressed and disheveled.
The Associated Press is now reporting that authorities have identified a suspect wearing a “black jacket on a cell phone, wearing a gray hoodie and a white baseball cap backwards placing a black bag at the second bomb site outside of the Forum restaurant on Boylston Street and then leaving the area before that explosion,” a description which closely but not specifically could be applied to more than one different man identified in the photos below.
These are some of the individuals sought after:

Is this him?

One good reason for a new thread is so we can have a look at/discuss facts and information rather than trudge through some surreal discussion about the 'IRA' .

Running man? The White man with backwards cap

Boston Bombing: Running Man Eyed by FBI [GIF] | HEAVY

According to this New York Daily News post, the FBI is looking closely at this footage (above) of a man running at the moment of the Boston Marathon bombing.

The footage, in GIF form, is included in a post by the group 4Chan ThinkTank, which aims to investigate the bombing in a crowdsourced effort.

Meanwhile, investigators have reportedly narrowed in on a suspect pictured in surveillance footage from the Lord & Taylor store near the bombing.

According to CBS, the man the police are reportedly looking for a white male, with a white backwards hat, and a black jacket.

Were these photos actually released by the police ? The problem with these self appointed internet "investigators" is they only have a small picture of events and a big imagination....anything of worth should be handed to the FBI.

I would think myself the 2 individuals identified in some of them photos in the khaki trousers are security services/police of some description UNLESS the police actually released them themselves.......

Eric, are you an FBI agent now? Would you rather be called Mulder, or perhaps Scully?

The problem with the authorities releasing pictures of suspects is obvious, people are just as likely to take the law into their own hands as they would be to turn likely suspects over for questioning. Its a can of worms, they have to be very careful where they thread.

According to RTE radio news reports they have been "named". I presume they mean identified though. Good to see their high standards are being maintained !

If they're not the perps and their pictures are all over the place they'll turn themselves in.

Here's the pics.

Number #1 looks rather sallow skinned whereas Number #2 definitely more fair skinned. But Lebanese people are quite fair skinned too and Arab Americans (75% Christian) are usually categorized as "White".

did people generally drop their bags and run after the blast or did they carry their stuff with them where ever they went ? I am thinking of the piece of advice when in a house fire to prioritize getting yourself out of danger and not worry about getting possessions out of danger e.g carry little or nothing out with you.
