As opposed to the liberal snobs of Rté and Irish Times plugging their boy Leo for last year.

Don't get the FF in the title...

FF should want Leo. Leaves them middle Ireland.

Middle Ireland is disappearing rapidly. It was the legacy party politics of the civil war subject to ecclesiastical dictate on moral issues.

I'm not sure that the media will have much influence on the contest which is confined to members, the Sindo is particularly popular among FGers.

Surely stories about homelessness would not be advantageous to Simon as Minister for Housing?

Among the general public maybe but among members there will always be a tendency to rally behind whoever the media attack.

The last people that FG members will heed when they go voting for the new leader is FF or pay any heed to opinion polls especially in the Indp.

Nothing would surprise me in Irish politics any more -- well scarcely anything... If this is FF's policy -- what would you call it? Strategic lobbying? But it has parallels. I seem to remember in Bill Clinton's election campaigns he "enjoyed" the campaiging for prez of Ross Perot, a renegade republican. It split the opposition vote and Clinton sailed home easily.
Hillary of course had her democratic support split by Bernie Saunders to the benefit of Donald

A small little point on this FG internal affair of party leadership: I pronounce myself outraged at the way RTE and the press went after Kenny with their persistent questions of "When are you going to go". This rule by the media is beyond it's remit of informing the public -- (a task that they make a lousy job of, by the way, hence the existence of places like Politics.ie)
It could of course be that the gay lobby see a historic opportunity to get one of their own in the seat of power -- loadza gays in RTE and the meedja, God bless 'em. But their job is to inform and analyse. To be going across the Atlantic to America and posing questions to Enda about when he's going is just a step to far.
I can recall reading that at one time during the fall of the Roman Empire that the harlots took over the reins of power. Their form of government brought the term "harlotocracy" to Political Science.
When or if Leo becomes Taoiseach, what will the descriptive term be for this type of government? Gay-ocracy? Anyone speak ancient Greek out there on the web?

Finally got Enda out of the way. Sigh of relief... but to replace him with either of those two!!! Aaaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I always thought it was a FF paper particularly the Sunday edition. Jody Corcoran always very flattering and Willie O'Dea has a column every week?

Not to mention previous Editors being strong family friends of Mehole.

Don't forget Celia Larkin had her own column 😂😂

Newstalk is a FF station? Same with Dinnys Indo? You're having a melt down and way way off course. The Irish Times poll also favours SC btw.

FF would do better with Leo in, he's already pîssing people off.

Except it was an Irish Times poll, and the Indo were merely reporting the results.

To be fair, The 'Independent' is an establishment paper owned by a tax exile named Sue, who continually gives FF and FG failures places on the boards of his various companies....

Wouldn't Simon be more problematic for FF given he shares a constituency with Mickey the slime X 2?

Trying to see daylight between FF and FG and their media outlets is futile.
They all represent the same class - and if you are reading this, you are not in it.
