FFG's Catholic Industrial Rape Machine sold young boys in to Slavery to serve the Catholic Establishment's Landed Families

It get's worse:

Hidden files reveal plight of the boys 'made into slaves'

A notorious industrial school in Limerick was paid to send boys under the age of 16 to work for traders, merchants and big farmers, according to hundreds of documents that have remained hidden for decades.

Experts say the find demonstrates local communities were involved in the industrialisation and exploitation of marginalised children.

...

Dublin City University deputy president Daire Keogh has studied and written about the Christian Brothers throughout his career. He said the practice of licensing children was a way for locals to avail of cheap labour.

"These farmers seldom kept boys on once they became men and wouldn't pay an adult wage. The whole thing reflects the level of societal collusion and institutionalisation and exploitation of marginalised kids."

The indentures, or contracts, between Glin and local businessmen or farmers tied the boys to new masters for three years. The monthly sums paid for the use of the boys increased for every year served, often from £3, to £5 and £8.

Under the terms of the indentures, the boys - referred to as apprentices - were prevented from getting married or working for a competitor. They could not drink, play cards or "absent himself from his said master's service day or night unlawfully".

The indentures seen by the Sunday Independent are dated between 1895 and 1914. However, Tom also has more recent documents and ledgers dated up to the 1950s
...

Tom said growing up in Glin was horrific. He was sexually abused and faced regular beatings. He can recall most of them and still bears the scars from one of the beatings on his forehead. He fell while being thrashed and his head was "split open".

...

In 1973, with the school about to close, he was told by a brother to take record books and ledgers from a pile of documents and place them in the boot of a car. The rest were to be destroyed.

Some were burned but he held on to many of the documents as he wanted to see if they contained information about his past and his mother. Tom kept the liberated files in an attic for more than 40 years.

...

The Christian Brothers sent archivists and legal representatives to view the files in UL. They then claimed ownership and demanded the documents be returned for storage in their own archives in Dublin. They threatened legal action to obtain them.

1. According to the link: "The indentures seen by the Sunday Independent are dated between 1895 and 1914." Your grasp of history is obviously tenuous at best as "the same establishment" does not still rule this country today.

2. Is the land dotted with mass graves of children raped and murdered? How many mass graves are there, and where exactly are they?

The same right wing establishment who were licking the hole off the Brits and only went along with the events leading up to independence as they saw the way the wind was blowing...they then proceeded to murder their way into power via a counter revolution and have been trying to stop the full implementation of a proper Republic ever since in the meantime pulling they grubby little money making rackets.....

I'd also if i were you do more research as there are people alive who were indentured to Farmers and have spoken about it on Liveline quite recently so well after 1914 this was still going on....

Same filth bags who now want to spend 300 million of our wedge on a hospital to give back to the nuns who ran the laundries ...

PIRA used to kneecap children.

500 children shot or beaten by paramilitaries since 1990 - The Irish News

Also the PIRA used to give parents the option of sending their kids to these places or they would blow away their kneecaps.

They also put many children in these places by making children orphans.

Son of Jean McConville tells of abuse by Fr Brendan Smyth

One of Jean McConville’s sons has told the North’s Historical Institutional Abuse inquiry that he was sexually abused while in care by the notorious paedophile priest Fr Brendan Smyth.
Billy McConville, who today waived his right to anonymity, also told the inquiry that he was sexually and physically abused by some De La Salle brothers and also physically abused by a lay teacher in Rubane House in Co Down.

The Irish people choose to vote these people in repeatedly. Notwithstanding things like libel laws or the Garda Special Branch that helped uphold the system.

That's how it was back then. Even for those not in industrial schools. My father left school at 14 to go working on his fathers farm. My father in law, a Dublin man, started working in a factory at 14. He had to hand up his wages to his mother in payment for living at home. The poster before you has mentioned the period in questions is 1895 to 1914. Likely a much more terrible time than when my dad and father in law left school to work for a pittance and not an industrial school in site.

And in case you think I'm being an apologist for the scum politicians and church leaders, I'm not. I'm well on record of p.ie berating same for such practices (and more).

Between 1895 and 1914 Ireland was under British rule and neither Fine Gael nor Fianna Fáil were in power, and as a matter of fact neither existed during that time. The OP wants to use the suffering of people from the period of British occupation as political ammunition to attack the two most popular parties in the state. The title of this thread proves this.

There is no denying the an unfortunate minority were, like in many other western European countries, subjected to horrendous abuse and this cannot be defended. To attribute this tragedy to a "counter revolution" by some mysterious right wing cabal though is complete unhistorical nonsense and anyone with even half a brain wouldn't take it seriously.

You're being a bit hard on him!

On his own admission he's a Shinnerbot, thus he almost certainly has a lower than average IQ and probably thinks that Limerick is in the 6 Counties.

And the graves that he blathered about are probably those of the "disappeared" - two perfectly understandable mistakes for any run-of-the-mill Shinner to have made.

Unfortunate minority .....?

There are people alive who were indentured and have spoken on the airwaves quite recently...people who were born well after FF and FG were established....if you think that there weren't castle catholics with the ranks of both parties post '22 who were doing quite well under British rule you are the one who needs to get a grip....

And you claim i'm talking historical nonsense.....are you from a farming or business background who benefited ..?....is this source of shame to you...?

I'm under no illusion that quite a good percentage of the vote base of both parties have done quite well over the years and have no intention of rocking the boat....

Events might overtake both parties yet though.....:D

Using people who suffered during the late nineteenth and first two decades as a means of attacking parties that were founded decades later is taking a biscuit and it shouldn't be tolerated.

You're acting on the mistaken assumption that I'm denying that people were indentured. I am clearly not. The practice was unfortunately too common here as well as in other countries and was known to happen by a lot of people, not just this mysterious group of British collaborators who have been supposedly pulling the strings since the nineteenth century that you claim are behind this. Using this to score points against other parties is absolutely disgusting.

her county's equivalent of slab murphy got rid of her etc
You're surely not referring to the man with the steel rimmed glasses and beard who at different times has been Fidel's, Nelson's, Muammar's, Tony's, Martin's, Bertie's and Bill's bestest buddy?

The same thing happened in NI and Scotland when children from the south were sent up north and Scotland to work for the mostly Protestant farmers.

The hiring fairs. I thought this was common knowledge.

Cumann na nGaedhael/Fine Gael and Fianna Fail must of known about it as both parties have strong farming backgrounds within them and it was still going on until at least the 1960's from the Liveline show of few months back ..... one commentator mentioned he tried to leave a farm he was sent to from the industrial school he was in to join the Defence forces but he nearly failed the medical inspection as he was malnourished from being underfed from his time on the farm...

I don't know how you see it as disgusting as it's historical fact ....you have admitted yourself it went on and are only now admitting it went on post 1895-1914 which you had previously denied.......

He also said he was threatened by the family about wanting to leave and that was the reason had to get offside on the QT...
