So, here we are.

Millions of breath tests forged and to go unpunished.

Thousands of wrongful convictions.

Dodgy dealings in at least Cavan and Donegal.

Unauthorised (allegedly verbally) tribunal hit squads set up.

Let's not forget the original penalty point squashing scandal.

Maurice McCabe being set up and briefed against (to put kindly).

Theft and money laundering performed by the Garda College.

Gardai demanding and getting pay rises outside of agreements, (unlike the teachers)

So far all this has cost FG a Taoiseach, possibly two, a Minister for Justice, possibly two, two Garda Commissioners and a Sec Gen.

Just how much are FG prepared to sacrifice to participate in a cover up of an extremely dysfunctional police force.

Just what is in the files in Garda HQ that is stopping FG saying "Just stop for a second lads, WTF is going on?".

Don't think FG would want the fraud squad noseying around into the Siteserv 'deal' for a start.
Then, there's also Noonan's rapist mate penpal in the 'Grace' case....

FFG will never reform AGS, there's too many files that might just 'turn up' if they try.....

the cops have the juicy stuff on the establishment, thats why
Hence, when the coppers threatened an illegal strike, FG found an additional €50 million per annum to buy them off with......

Frenemies...They don't want to turn their friends into deadly enemies. FF seem to be even more in the Gardai's pockets and they don't have the natural dimwitted jackboot tendencies that go a long way towards explaining FGs attitude towards policing.

Perfection is a lovely dream. We have an imperfect but generally decent police force here. They do their best with what the have.

As it turns out, no, no we don't.

Corruption on a massive scale and the governing party are prepared to throw anything under the bus to cover up the corruption.

It's a simple question.

Why?

Motto of An Garda Síochána :
Working with communities to protect and serve - More like working with the political establishment to protect and serve themselves...

So what's your solution to this rotten problem?
Let's start with a cleanout of the top brass and have people with proven international expertise in policing take the helm.

Also, we need a true separation of powers between politicians and AGS.

They do their best ...
There is plenty of evidence to assert precisely the contrary. We appear to have a police force that, in at least one important aspect of its functioning, does nothing at all and then lies institutionally through its teeth about it.

They beat the Greek official statistics body hands down in fact in that particular area of inactivity.
