Fine Gael were once a party of original principles...then they became the para-political arm of the corrupt status quo

Also in the 1960's the "Just Society" commie hand grenade was lobbed into Fine Gael ...and the dissonance it caused was mighty, it got elaborated on in the 1970's ...and Labour did tail-wagging-doggery (not the last time FG would be Manchurian-ed either)

Policy changes conceived in Costello's 'Just Society' | Irish Examiner

By 1986 Garret was in full dither on the issue...and an upstart Ryanair was trying to break down the golden curtain between Ireland and the world

Tony Ryan was a rotter ([redacted])....but Commissar for Transport Jim Mitchell was a clunking fist authoritarian defender of the Status Quo

Fledgling Ryanair clashed with minister over approval for jets
But I will not allow Ryanair to hijack national air transport policy on the basis of a few weeks’ operations on the Dublin-Luton route.”
Mr Mitchell’s letter added that he would “not be pressurised into premature decisions by expensive PR campaigns” by Ryanair and that it is his intention to review the situation in some months’ time in light of the airline’s performance.
Might FG ever become a values based party ? Have they yet recovered from the "Just Society" reacharound ?

You're retarded. The threads you post are ridiculous, lack any balanced analysis, any insight and any actual discourse.

Also I'm langers. But you're still a moron.

The op is silly but its interesting to note how much air travel has changed since it was deregulated. Imagine an airline having to get permission to introduce a new aircraft on a route from the transport minister?

Took until 1992 for breeding units with buns in the oven to be allowed to cross the golden curtain

We owe a debt to Seamus Brennan.

The 'Just Society' phrase represented a short period where FG were the better choice between the two major parties.

CyP's posts have got worse since he stopped posting about robot sex. He's probably one of the most intolerant posters on this site, twice already today he's accused people of vaguely centre left persuasion of being Bolsheviks.

They still haven't fully defused the Just Society hand grenade ... the Brutons/Dukes were the last with the capability to do so
