I saw this and really couldn't stop giggling towards the end. Whoever the source is clearly felt the meeting (and the direction of the party) was a farce and wanted to emphasise that by leaking it in such detail. The last sentence of the article is priceless.

It is brilliant.....

There was some criticism at the meeting of the fact that comprehensive details of the critical discussion on the leadership issue last June were leaked to The Irish Times.

Senator Paschal Donohoe said he had come to the meeting to find out the party’s message on the economy but the whole time had been spent talking in silly and demoralising terms about the media.
Don't tell me he didn't know before hand?

Honestly though, this is farcical stuff. Bugging devices? In the Leinster House Parliamentary Party rooms? If it was Inda who asked that the room be swept for the bugs, as he no doubt would have called them, it's clear that he thinks this is a film, or something! Honestly! And who would want to bug the room? It would be leaked anyway as we clearly see! The only reason to bug it would be to hear the actual shots followed by "Feckin' hell, I hit me big toe this time! Someone get Dr. Brendan Grace."

Still, should give Gilmore a nice smile in the morning.

I'm actually left wondering who was tasked with the search, and did they know what a bugging device would even look like?

Probably Special Branch. They use something like the hand held metal detectors customs use.

He stressed the need for party confidentiality.
MEDIA COVERAGE of Fine Gael and its performance in the polls were key issues at a 90-minute meeting of the Fine Gael parliamentary party held behind closed doors at Leinster House last night.Sources at the meeting said party leader Enda Kenny was highly critical of some recent Sunday newspaper coverage that suggested his position was under threat.

And in other news, SETI has been contracted to search for signs of intelligent life in the Fine Gael parliamentary party meeting. A spokesman for SETI said that it expected to find signs of extraterrestrial life first. Enda Kenny replied with something that translated as "they are all against me" and ended with an indecipherable outburst that sounded like "yupmaeoyupmaeo". :)

Why on earth would anyone need to bug the meeting? Everyone knows the participants are going to leak everything anyway.

The new FG political director used to work in a radio station so he problably thinks that everyone recieves the news of Enda's great deeds from radios. Tin foil hattery of a political nature really.

Oh dear, oh dear. The end must surely be nigh. Enda has gone all Richard Nixon. Listening devices?

Although he has disproved the old adage. It turns out you can be paranoid even when they really are all out to get you.

We are heading toward a Gilmore Taoiseachery. (I have patented that word, you're not allowed use it).

I wonder how much he pays the plumbers? :) Knowing the FG, he will probably get the wrong type.

So guys, no headline this morning that Kenny has stepped down?

It seems he's there for the long haul despite all of the predictions that were wide of the mark.

Kenny is proving to be resilient after all in fairness, Gilmore has set the bar high and will find it very hard to maintain those levels.

He is proving nothing other then his total lack of leadership abilities and delusions. If he was smart he'd have stepped aside but instead he persists with the charade that he has a united party and that the media want to listen to him belting out the Red and Green of Mayo!

This really is end of days Stalinist paranoia

Indeed it recalls a post by a prominent FGer here earlier this week
(shortened slightly)

No surprise there - its common knowledge in the south east that Coffey's camp believe their chances of being elected are severely endangered by Kenny continued leadership - especially given labours strength in Waterford City.

Ah - as i said in a previous thread - this kind of thing is spreading like wildfire

A)- 2 of the 4 Carlow districts have moved in favour of Kenny's removal and ...

B) at the meeting of the south East regional council last week - the FG councillors had a seperate meeting on the side themselves, voted by secret ballot and have called for Kenny's resignation - "Beria" Hogan, I believe, has got his informers on a rack in the dungeons of Kilkenny Castle trying to find out who the feckers were who voted in favour - Tough titties Phil - people arent afraid of ya anymore.

C) A carlow FG councillor...

D) a former chairman and secretary of the Carlow/kilkeeny FG ...

E) a current member of the CW/KK constituency executive will resign ...

Its all coming to head folks - and its nothing personal -after 8 years the public have made up their mind about Enda Kenny - nice guy but no taoiseach - but Kenny and hogan are making it personal by riding roughshot over the members opinions, making threats and conducting witchunts and purges and this is going to get very bitter in the end - its the party membership against the party machine - but like in all totalitarian dictatorships - FG is coming to resemble one of those comical "colonels" regimes in Greece,Spain and Portugal in the 60's and 70's - the junta are totally ignoring the membership and continuing on in some kind of parallel lala land - praying to jesus for an election that will finally allow all those underachievers and quota sitters to get their hands on a ministerial seat - even if it is as a junior member of the Labour dominated government - they dont care.

...

To Finish - if I wanted to implement Labour party policies - I would have joined the Labour party - buts exactly where FG is headed under the junta.
