I'd love to be a fly on the wall. Apparantly it will be a "bare knuckle" affair.

Maybe someone will be able to post on here what they heard on the grapevine.

It seems there is a move on to unclench Cowen's grip from the Fianna Fail leadership, whatever about Taoiseach.

Surely FF cannot go on much longer with him as leader?

At this stage even he must see the writing is on the wall for Fianna Fail with him as leader.

Back me Lads or yer all toast....

Could be an all nighter - with the bar closed.:?

Who will crack 1st is an open question.

I would say the dissidents will get 18 for the challenge but Biffo will hang on for now if he promises not to lead them into the GE and clarifies a date to within a fortnight in January/February.

So whats the deal with the 18 member rule. The rule that you need 18 members to back a motion? I mean it will be kinda hard to gather that number after the GE, it would be half the PP.

Smacks of the work of CJH or his acolytes.

Hanafin will go forward, according to a friend of mine.

The same friend said Cowen's on borrowed time from his backbenchers.

I bet we will hear that he made "the speech of his life", again behind closed doors and had them all in thrall to him, master of his brief and hidden genius.

Well that scenario should focus minds within FF on the fact that the Soldiers of Destiny will be able to muster far fewer troops in their ranks after the next GE

- if their General is called Cowen when the charge is sounded.

I wonder given the inevitable tongue lashing he going to get tonight that he will be so demoralised he will decide to throw in the towel sooner rather than later?

The backbenchers that I have heard from dont seem to know their ass from their elbow at this stage. FF backbenchers have lost all sense of reality hoping that some miracle will save their seats. Their like Seanie Fitzpatrick having spent his last €2 on a lotto ticket hoping his numbers will come up

Cowen is at his weakest now, how hard can it be to organise a heave?

As for him enthralling them with another great speech, they have to be idiots to fall for that one again. No amount of speeches from Cowen will save them from inevitable election wipeout if they keep him as leader.

The writing has been on the wall, in very large letters for ages now.
