Fianna Fáil voting against abolishing water charges despite saying it wants to abolish water charges !!

Ah yes the great champions of everybody FF who in the week of the last anti water charges demo said they want to abolish water charges, but now with a motion to the Dáil calling for the abolition of the charges, FF are against it and will vote with FG !!! So FF who brought in IW and the charges, then said they'd abolish them during the election campaign, then voted for their suspension, then said their for abolition - now are voting against abolition !!!

I often wonder what people will think of this fiasco of a state in hundred years time, Father Ted politics is all you can call it.

Fianna Fáil to vote against abolishing water charges, even though it wants to scrap water charges

This is definite proof that politicians speak out of both sides of their mouth, and you trust them at your peril.

To call their bluff, the demand should be the complete dismantling of the Irish Water insiders quango, and the full function of our water infrastucture be handed back under the control of the County Councils, with one sub authority looking after water.

A referendum on the above should be called, as if this is not done, the politicians will attempt to introduce and inflict the IW fiasco (being grromed for sale to a private investor) on us sometime in the future when, and if, we drop our guard.

Sure all you have to do is get a government elected that agrees with this. Should be a piece of cake....right?

They have a prior deal and they're sticking to it.

SF show lack of understanding of this position and what a surprise that is.

Jayus tonic your almost as thick as James Reilly or Regina Doherty :D Fine Fail gave a a prior deal to the electorate during the election saying they'd abolish changes - and then voted to suspend them - and then voting to keep them !!!

Nope, not in the slightest.

I wonder in which decade did De Martian last tell the truth?

Yep sure thing blueshirt

All you have to do now brains, is establish the connection between getting rid of IW and permanently abolishing water charges.

Its your mission should you decide to accept it and good luck with it if you do.

I thought that water charges could only be abolished with a money bill, not a motion as SF have proposed.

Would not supporting the motion be a step in bringing about IW's abolition as promised during the election by FF ?

This is the people's Dail in the truest sense of the term. This circus really does represent the people of Ireland perfectly.

Bravo FF!
