I think its fair to say that there are many terms and phrases that are unique to the Northern Ireland section of P.ie and which tend to confuse many newbies. So I think a thread dedicated to defining these terms, with an NI touch to it of course:

So lets start with the basics:

Fleg - The National Flag of the United Kingdom

Flegger - A person who is convinced that "themmuns" are out to destroy Unionism, and who are primarily concerned with keeping the "fleg" flying over Belfast City Hall all year round.

Themmuns - "Them ones": the opposing side in the NI debate. Fellow members of one's own side are known as "ussuns".

PUL - Orangies/Unionists/Loyalists/"Pradastants"/British Nationalists

CNR - "Kafflicks"/Fenians/Nats/Rebs/Irish Nationalists/Republicans

Mickeymac - An erudite Floridian who has an account on every major NI discussion forum and who is primarily found on your ignore list. :)

Whataboutery - It was themmuns whodunit!

Please add as many words with their respective NI definitions as you can!

Chuckie = Hardline Republican. Comes from Tiocfaidh ár lá...

Eire = a misspelling of the Irish word for Ireland. Éire

Ulster = Can mean either the historic province of Ulster or Northern Ireland...
