Former anti-Islamic firebrand becomes a Muslim

Arnoud van Doorn, a former member of Geert Wilder's Freedom Party which was virulently anti-Islam has just announced his conversion to Islam. Whilst he formerly espoused the beliefs of his leader which was that Islam was "a retarded culture" and that the Quran was a "fascist book", he now proclaims on Twitter that "there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet".

It's hard to see this as being much more than a twit in a desperate need to have an extremist of the world. I've heard of communists in Germany in the 1930s who moved very comfortably from the far left to end up on the far right in the National Socialist Party.

In case any one doubts that this is a fair analogy, van Doorn admits to having been influenced by the "fundamentalist" as-Soennah Mosque in The Hague.

Good luck to him. I only hope that if he changes his mind the way back is as easy.

An attention seeking idiot. Anybody who converts to Islam, without a gun being put to their head, is a retard.

There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of "Gods". Super Mo-mo, the illiterate child raping caravan raider, is bumbling along the bottom of the Isle of Man Premier Division when it comes to the league of "prophets".

It's not unusual for extremists to swing to the opposite extreme.

Horst Mahler who was once was a founding member of the Red Army Faction later became a Holocaust denier and a Neo Nazi.

Bit OTT! By all accounts Mohammad was very intelligent and charasmatic plus I'm don't think he was a caravan raider.

The accounts you have read are incorrect and obviously emanating from the Islamic propaganda machine. Nothing I have said is inaccurate, Mo-mo was an illiterate child raping caravan raider.

It is wiki but easiest to source right now, if you want sources other than wiki they are out there in abundance, here is the caravan raider bit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caravan_raids

Of course Allah gave permission for the caravan raids. Well he would do wouldn't he and only Momo as the "prophet" could interpret that they had godly permission to be highwaymen. Pity Dick Turpin didn't start his own religion.

Wiki isn't always the most reliable of sites but while he may have started with caravans he soon moved into the premier league (as a gangster) sacking cities and moving on to conquer vast swathes of territory. While christians and jews were not forcibily converted it was an other story for "pagans": convert or die by the sword.

Indeed wiki is not super reliable but it is a fact that he was a caravan raider and there are a multiplicity of sources out there. In fact I do not think it is disputed even by Muslim scholars, but of course they put a religious bent on it, being a highwayman is ok if the big man in the sky says it is apparently.

And yes, the rest if your point is correct. The poor old kuffar/kafir never gets an easy ride when the religious nuts roll into town. It is never enough to accept people's beliefs while not believing yourself. You gotta convert or you get the sword in the guts. Terribly nice people all the same.

QED. I'm sure part of it is a desperate need to feel they're at the centre of things.

Why is it beyond the realms of possibility that when he looked into the religion properly he found something in it that struck a chord in him? People take up religion all the time, others change from one to another, others give it up altogether.
Good luck to him, he is obviously man enough to accept he was wrong.

Anything to justify your rastafarianism.
