Fine Gael corruption trial collapses over a legal matter, and will resume in april.
Fred Forsey,Ex-Fine Gael councilor who got six years in jail for receiving €80,000 in alleged corrupt back handers from michael ryan, must be frustrated.
Heard he might make a written statement for the new trial in april.
Who knows though.

The Fine Gael corruption trial has resumed after collapsing in Febuary.
As Nama developer and ex Fine Gael councillor Michael Ryan denies giving €80,000 in corrupt payments to Fred Forsey.
Fred has already been jailed for 6years,for accepting the payments.
Maybe this is just one of the reasons why Fine Gael shelved planning investigations.

Dunlop tells trial he gave councillors cash for votes - Crime & Law News from Ireland & Abroad | The Irish Times - Fri, Jul 05, 2013

Amazing how people from some parties can be on trial for corruption, and the media avoids mentioning which party they came from. But a Sinn Féin person reporting a scam they uncovered is reported as being Sinn Féin linked to scam.

When Sinn Fein becomes a full Political establishment party and drops this habit of taken the average industrial wage, then and only then will you see some positive headlines from our establishment media.

Wot, I'm shocked. Surely nobody in our society from an FG or Labour background could in any way be involved in corruption!
At least that's what they always lead us to believe!

The sole difference between Fianna Fáil & Fine Gael (or Labour) in terms of corruption is - Access to Opportunity.
Where FF have greater access to opportunity for corruption, there will tend to be greater FF corruption. Where FG have greater opportunity, there will be greater FG corruption, and so on.

Legal argument in the case is continuing today and the judge will rule on that issue on Tuesday next.In the meantime he has sent the jury home for today and they were told to be back in court on Tuesday at 10.30am.The trial at Waterford Circuit Court heard yesterday that Michael Ryan told gardaí after he was arrested that he was aware former Fine Gael Councillor Fred Forsey Jnr spoke to people about an industrial and residential project Mr Ryan wanted to develop, but denied the politician was lobbying on his behalf.Mr Ryan, with an address at The Sweepstakes, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, denies three charges of making corrupt payments to Forsey in August, October and December of 2006. The money is alleged to have been a reward or inducement for Forsey to use his influence to get a 32-hectare piece of land outside Dungarvan rezoned to industrial and residential use.
