Couldn't find a thread on this.

Obviously, members of Ogra Shinn Fein, Ogra Fianna Fail, Labour Youth and Young Fine Gael are the future of the parties. Who, in your party, if you support one and/or are a member of, do you think has a future as a candidate. Membership of the youth wings of political parties seem to be on the rise, even if it's just local activism/protests/campaigns.

I'd say Young Fine Gael has the best record for this.

Having produced many talented TDs such as Brian Hayes and Phil Hogan, last election saw Leo Varadkar and Lucinda Creighton join as the Dáil's two youngest TDs.

I think the next general election will see many more YFG members become TDs.
One person who's certain to gain a seat is Cllr Simon Harris in Wicklow. If he can do what he did in Greystones he'll easily pick up a quota. He's now an area rep in Bray and I hear he's really putting in the work to represent these areas.

John Paul Phelan from Carlow Kilkenny will probably gain a seat this time, having narrowly missed out in 2007.

John Kennedy is trying to get the nomination for the Bye-Election in Dublin South. He's very ambitious and he's even set up his own website. John Kennedy

Cllr Nicola Hogan from Laois Offaly is looking to replace Olwyn Enright in 2012.

Cllr Eoghan Murphy from Pembroke Rathmines is a very sharp guy. He's doing great work on the council and I'd say he'll take a seat in DSE

That will play well with the blueshirts grass roots. He's already half way to being their next leader imo.
He looks like a man that could murder a political opponent in cold blood . Ah begorra , dem were the days !

I like hunting and I'm pretty left-wing. What's so tory about hunting?

Err , your putting me on the spot but I will venture this ,ahem.
The sheer arrogance of it all .
Goodnight sir .
"The sheer arrogance"?

Can you clarify. Sorry it's early and the caffeine is only starting to be absorbed by my GI tract (it'd better hurry up. I've got a lecture in an hour).

With the obvious caveats in mind, he does actually look as though he's about to reveal some nefarious plan for world domination.

deranged more than evil I would say. His photos are appalling, him and Kenny look like two bible salesmen. I would get my money back from the photographer if I was him and get a suit that fits. Imagine him turning up at the door on a cold wintry night, scary.

his web site isn't bad and he comes across as a decent caring person so you got to ask yourself what is he doing in FG.
