The imperialists at the BBC have cause furious fury by using a colonist propagandist label for Cumann Luthchleas Gael Doire...

The BBC has admitted it made "an error" after a radio host sparked a furore by referring to Derry GAA team as 'Londonderry' during a sports bulletin.

During the 6pm broadcast of Radio Ulster News on Sunday, the presenter stated: "Meanwhile, Ulster teams had a disappointing start in the opening games of the Allianz National League. Tyrone, Donegal, Monaghan and Londonderry all lost,

Now as anyone who watches the Beeb will know they alternate between 'Derry' and 'Londonderry' and usually try to use both in any report. So surely this is an ideal opportunity for the GAA to do the same? They could outreach the trojan hand of equality to the PUL community. Just imagine young William Waterside taking up slap ball only to realise he has no hope of representing his home county of Londonderry because the GAA say it doesn't exist...End the discrmination now...

Why would the BBC deliberately change the name of a team? Obviously, it was not a mistake

No wonder the CNR have given up on NI. After all, what the point?

Mistake or not, it matters not, as only the bigoted sectarian AH crackpots in the sick counties refer to the City other than it's proper name of DERRY.

Only if the ABOD change it to Apprentice Boys of Londonderry for 2019. Get what theloner is getting at Bridget, there simply is no such team called Londonderry GAC, hence the apology for the BBC's odd renaming of the sporting organisation.

They'll fight and don't surrender
But come when duty calls,
With heart and hand and sword and shield
We'll guard old Derry's Walls.

The Loyalist song "Derry's Walls", which celebrates the 1689 siege of the Northern Ireland city, divides opinion, with some on the opposing side of the religious and political divide saying it is offensive.

Unionists didnt start using the term "Londonderry" as default until the late 60s early 70s..... Its a term childishly initiated to p1ss off the fenians..

It's sung to the tune of Ar Dywysog Gwlad y Bryniau.

Talking of Tunes lets nat forget that Londonderry Air tisn't allowed to be called Londonderry Air...

And now the fretting extends to Limavady, where Sinn Fein councillors resent people being welcomed to the town with a notice recalling that it is the home of a tune called The Londonderry Air. This is the tune to which the lyrics of Danny Boy have been attached.

The signage helpfully guides the visitor to that understanding with a graphic of a clip of the musical score and the words of Danny Boy.

So you'd think there wouldn't be a problem.

But some Sinn Fein councillors think that the sign should claim that Limavady is the home of the song, Danny Boy, which would be a lie. Limavady has no claim to the lyrics, only to the tune. The song was written by an Englishman, Frederic Weatherly. The real problem is that the sign will bear the offensive word Londonderry.
