The UK's full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Should Northern Ireland vote for a United Ireland; the name of the UK will have to change.
The Union of the Kingdoms refers to 1801 when The Kingdom of Ireland was unified with the Kingdom of Great Britain.
So should the North leave the Union; the name of the UK would revert to the Kingdom of Great Britain (KGB?).

If Scotland votes for Independence before Irish unification; the name of the UK would have to change to the United Kingdom of England and Northern Ireland. This is because Wales is part of the old Kingdom of England that unified with the Kingdom of Scotland in 1707 and the Union between Great Britain and Ireland would be continued in the successor Kingdom, England.

If Scotland voted for Independence after Irish reunification, the name of what would be left would revert to the Kingdom of England. However I could see this antagonising Welsh nationalists.

The break up of the UK has become a real possibility. Thinking about future names for the entity is a fun antagonising way at expressing Schadenfreude.

What about naming Britain "Great Ireland" as a mark of respect for the millions of Irish people who live there, and for the millions of Irish people who emigrated there, and for the millions of Irish who built Britain's roads and houses and office blocks and hospitals and apartment blocks after the world war?
Britain and Ireland coud be referred to as Ireland and Great Ireland (IGI), eventually shortened to Ireland with the capital city in Cork or Galway
