Shamed pop star Gary Glitter is to be "executed" in a new television programme examining capital punishment. The 90-minute Channel 4 film reintroduces the death penalty to Britain and explores public attitudes to it. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, signed the Sex Offenders' Register last year after spending time in jail in Vietnam for child sex offences. Source.

Good idea for a documentary it is going to examine attitudes to the death penalty probably bit on the macabre side but will be interesting.

You'd have avoided it quite easily if you didn't bother starting this thread.
Why not the site is about debate and capital punishment worthy of a good debate.

If you dont like the thread dont post in it. :)

No doubt if the ratings are good RTE will produce their own version about Cathal O'Searcaigh.

The capital punishment rule:

He who has the capital does not get the punishment.

Where I live there is a lot of bogus sex offense convictions,to boost the career of the local sheriff, and DA. The good thing is that they are going to go to jail soon for corruption.

Being channel 4, i would not expect the death penalty side to be fairly represented. no doubt they will show its advocates as loons. I personally am not in favor, But only because we can not be sure in every case, and inevitably a mistake will be made.
Its a shame that a program can not be made on the far more realistic idea of locking people up for life. (and that is a proper life term, not 15 years)

I'd be against the death penalty. I think there's always been a sizable section of the UK population in favour of the death penalty but politicians of all parties there have resisted calls to 'bring back hanging'. In a sense the 'death penalty' debate clouds the issue of just what is a life sentence!

Gadd in a way is under a life sentence as his name will forever be associated with depravity.

He just gives negative rep with the informative comment "troll".

We had guys like that in school years ago, they were called BULLIES! :D
