Every day we see more that our government is incapable to deal with that biggest crisis in the history of our country.

Our future is being sold out to bankrupt banks without any benefit for the people of our country.

Whereas other countries like Iceland successfully withstood the cronyism between banks and government, our country is being driven into the most dangerous debt trap on the whole planet.

Ireland is borrowing money to record interest rates on the international market.

We have to immediately stop this government making tens of billions of €uro depts for busted banks meanwhile cutting in any of the other sectors.

This is becoming a bottomless downward spiral which will impact future generations.

No intention of this government to create or sustain jobs or any kind of stimulus for two years now.

We are seeing leaders who prove their incapability to get us out of the trouble almost every day.

One after the other scandal is overwhelming the media.

Politics.ie has become part of the mainstream media now and can no more be ignored.

The sooner this government is out of office the better for all of us.

It seems like any other alternative is better than the current leadership.

Show up on this thread. Show this government that we are no more willing to take that anymore. Post your comment.

Raise your voice.

DEMAND GENERAL ELECTIONS NOW !!!

Tell the Irish People what the answer is, we need people like you,
Tell us what difference a change of government will do,

A new government will either do the same until we get out of it.
Or they do ????? do ???? do ???????????????????

Ranting about the need for a general election on the internet is not enough. The people need to get out onto the streets and protest constantly and forcefully until this government finally get's the message. Someone said on this forum a few weeks ago that two or three days of mass protests unto the dail like the ones they had in Greece a few months ago will be enough to oust this government. Surely it's worth a try!!

I believe that a new government cannot be worse, only better.
Read the progammes of Lab, FG, or the little parties.

I'm not calling for GE because I'm a Fís Nua member, I'm doing it because this government needs to be replaced.

If you think there is no alternative than be prepared for the worst.

Although it's tainted by the James 'been on the dole for 15 years' O'Toole and his SWP crowd, I think if people REALLY give a ************************, they should go to the right to work march coming up....

Restore confidence in ourselves and our country this cannot be achieved while the present government are in power, Fianna Fail has been unable to provide a Toiseach to give leadership, Fianna Fail has provided this country with a series of Ministers, including the present one who have proven themselves not able for the job, Lenihan told us after the bank guarantee that lending would start up, it never did, employment is rising every day since, A change of government would inspire confidence, We have seen too many members of government having to leave office, As Miriam O Callaghan said to a minister on Prime Time, "Nobody believes you minister" this applies to all ministers including Mr Lenihan, he is telling us we have turned corners that things have stabilized, not true, Things have got worse, The very fact that the government is refusing to hold BY-Elections
and has to be forced into court by Sinn Fein to explain themselves is doing major damage to the country. The electorate are entitled to make a judgment on this government now,

Woah there horsie...let's have the detailed FF budget proposals, the FG/Lab response, and an election.

No point in giving FF the power to push one more lunatic Budget through with more lunatic proposals and savage psychopathic cuts against the weakest and megabillions in debt that will take decades to repay.

Also twas me said the way to get them out is a permanent protest. Turn up and refuse to leave. Everyone takes it in shifts, everyone does a few hours depending on their work/kids/etc commitments so the individual members of the protest are constantly changing but there are always tens of thousands of people at any one time. That's how they did it in Iceland, Ukraine, how they stopped the attempted coup in Venezuela....the only way for any Govt to resist such a protest is Burma/Tienanmen-style State mass murder.

It's not that FF have any shame whatsoever, FF would put up with such a prtoest for years on end and simply not care. But the Powers That Be internationally will quickly rout their fat arses off their Ministerial chairs if mass protests in Dublin are on international news every night for a week....

+1

What an insanity to believe when the banks are getting taxpayers money they would pass it directly to small business/enterprise. Banks do want to enrich their capital first. Government fonds lending the money directly to small business/enterprise would do the trick. Skip the banks. They have failed. If there was real free market nobody would socialise their losses. But the profits will go into their bondholders' pockets again. That's what you are paying for: The profits of the bondholders, not to save "system important" banks. If they were that "system important" you would have to question the whole system.

In my view there is no comprehensible reason to bankrupt a whole state for saving incapable banks except there is massive corruption.

From their Facebook page...

The Right To Work Campaign will be joining the Irish Trade Union Congress protest at the Dail on Wed September 29th- we will be marching from Anglo Irish Bank at 12 noon and then joining the Congress protest at the Dail at 12.30pm.

Sept 29th is the 1st day back for the Dail and is also the 2nd anniversary of the banking guarantee.

The 23 Billion we gave Anglo Irish Bank is enough to employ everyone on the Live Register for 3 years on 33,000 a year!

Get this government out!
No more Anglo Irish Bailouts!
We want jobs and services!
Stop the Cuts!

That would be the right way to go about it. Make Budget 2011 the GE battlefield.

The middleclass. Most, heavily borrowed but still cash rich, couldn't give a crap about protests.

Usual stuff..

Is Ireland still a democracy?

Only 11% support the Government. It's been like that for quite a long time now yet they claim to have a mandate from an election that was held in an entirely different reality. They just won't go despite the fact most people don't want them in office anymore. Sometimes when FF and Green politicians pretend they have a mandate on the news or whatever it's quite worrying to me that it sounds like no matter what level of support they have they will not call an election. In fact increasingly sounds more like dictatorship! What do you think?

I have thought this for a long time now, democracy in Ireland has been replaced, with what I don't actually know some kind of perverted "Let's roll the dice game & see" with do overs if the Government don't get the answer they like.

Unelected Taoiseach. Unelected President. Mass unwanted immigration without consent or debate. Our independence and sovereignty swept away. Millions of people forced to share massive debt when they were never going to share any of the profit. Unrepresentative nest of nepotistic thieves in our parliament. Larcenous professional classes.

Whatever we are, we are not a democracy.

The Government of the Irish State draws its Mandate from the TDs elected to Leinster House & not directly from the electorate.

Its based on the British Parliamentary system that is used in many other countries too.

So yes we have a Democracy - like all such polities it has its strength and weaknesses.
