Wonder how many other "Democrats" were also secretly members of the extra-legal counter-insurgency networks?

"Mr Seawright was named by the UVF in a booklet in memory to its members killed during the Troubles.
He was shot and fatally wounded by the IPLO in December, 1987. The 36-year-old was attacked near his home on the Shankill Road.
The booklet, published by the UVF, lists details of its members killed during the Troubles."

(Thursday, August 24) Seawright named as UVF member - Belfast Today

Collusion with the Loyalist Death Squads went to the very top of the British and free state establishments.

Agreed but we are talking about actual membership here and not just colluding.

SS with yet another wonderfully late observation.

Has the St Andrew's Agreement happened in your world yet?

Heh - scraping the barrel with a story from 2006 ......
I'm pretty sure that if you were bothered you could age SS pretty accurately from the OPs she makes here. The way she scampers to create a thread when she reads something from years ago that she was unaware of until today is identical to the way a child thinks they've got superpowers when they discover static electricity from shag carpet.

Next OP will be "Bobby Sands should be freed!"

Did George Seawright have any connection to Belfast pre being a member of a Glasgow flute band?

She reminds me of the middle class wannabe revolutionary students who were such a pain in the 70s. The girls wore khefiyas ( to show solidarity ....) and conspicuously carried copies of Spare Rib. Right on Sister petunia

Interesting that you mention BICO....Its amazing the generally unacknowledged influence they had on Ulster Unionism....From Bishop D'Arcy and Edward Carson to Brendan Clifford its amazing how many idealogical brains behind Unionism came from the south!

BICO and Seawright fit in nicely with each other.

Both were dumped by British Secret Intelligence as soon as they became a nuisance along with Billy Wright and Airey Neave.

Bernadette is one of the most interesting people to emerge from the 60s.
About 20 years ago , I heard a guard saying something particularly interesting about her involvement in the troubles. Don't worry , mods , I'm not going to repeat it here , but I've often wondered if it was true and , if so , it doesn't appeared to have come out in the wash or even been hinted at.

I'd have her book the Price of My soul on the School curriculum.

Refreshingly honest - but she has always tended to be frank.

Unionists must ensure that nationalists don't outnumber them. On the other side, what are we confined to--outbreeding them? What are our choices? Either we shoot them or we outbreed them. There's no politics here. It's a numbers game.

What no links, better not let the Friends of Ulster see that.
