Now this is interesting - a food bank in Essen, Germany has instituted a new rule requiring visitors to show a German passport in order to receive food.

"The charity Essener Tafel called it a temporary restriction necessary because the share of foreigners using the food bank had soared to 75% in recent years."

This once again raises an ongoing issue - is it the responsibility of the locals to look after foreigners who end up in their midst due to a policy that was enacted at national level?

It seems quite clear that this charity - Essener Tafel - was set up to provide a foodbank for Germans in the Essen area, so is it fair to give them a hard time (including calling them Nazis) for sticking to their mandate? I'd say that it isn't, and that if recent immigrants in the area have become so numerous, and so in need of the basics of life (like food), then it should be up to Merkel and government agencies to look after these recent immigrants.

This all goes back to Merkel's decision to allow 1.2 asylum seekers into Germany. At the time many said that this would lead to problems, but Merkel seemed to assume that things would just work out with no effort involved. However now that problems are arising, but Merkel is criticising the food bank's decision to bar foreigners from receiving free food.

She expects the food bank to find "good solutions"? That means that she has no intention of helping to solve the problems that she has caused, and instead is content to sit on the sidelines and complain about those who end up facing the problems.

Chancellor Merkel enters 'Germans only' food bank furore - BBC News

"Vandals have sprayed "Nazis" on the charity's delivery vans.

Mrs Merkel spoke out against Essener Tafel's new rule requiring visitors to show a German passport in order to receive food.

"One shouldn't run services on the basis of such categorisations. That's not good. But it also shows the amount of pressure there is, and how many people are needy. That's why I hope they can find good solutions which do not exclude groups," she told the broadcaster RTL.

The far-right AfD defended the charity's policy on Facebook (in German), saying "if you fight back, you're a Nazi".

More madness coming from Merkel's Germany, it seems.

Apparently I should be entitled to the same services as Germans in Germany even if I have never lived there, have no knowledge of the country, have never contributed in a meaningful way to the wellbeing of the nation and don't even speak the language.

Absolutely incredible that the supposedly Liberal Left have descended to the "You're a Nazi" argument. Signs of an intellectual acumen right there.

It's the left that is at fault here.

As we've seen before, their initial reaction to people who have to make hard decisions to deal with practical problems is to call them Nazis or fascists. While all the time presuming that the magic money tree will keep on providing endless amounts of money.

Is it any wonder that a leader at the charity is at the point of giving up?

He's absolutely right - let the mouthy politicans do something to feed all of these additional people before giving their views.

"Essener Tafel head Jörg Sartor spoke angrily about the criticism. "A load of politicians are laying into us now - but they are ill-informed. They ought to reciprocate and help out here - after that they can voice an opinion, by all means."

He defended his staff and said he was "sick and tired" of the criticism. "I'm almost ready to quit," he said.

Earlier, he said the restriction had nothing to do with xenophobia; he said it was all about fairness, because large numbers of elderly women and single mothers had stopped coming to Essener Tafel."

Maybe some of the clients are not in need of food and are abusing the system. 75% is a high proportion. A cynic would think that some refugees are stretching their Unemployment Assistance and doing something else with their money. As we all know asylum seekers are fed on site. Its a conundrum.

When I remarked that Frau Merkel looked well-fed, I was accused of fattism! Now Angela is beginning to fade away and, like every other politician, Merkelism too shall pass.

Sadly the same cannot be said for the changes she brought about. They're permanent.

Merkel like the other establishment parties in Germany are way out of touch with the public (as are most EU establishment parties). ADf is growing a solid base and making non-neo-liberals a lot braver.

Merkel, has even recognised the problem with no-go areas in Germany, story about it yesterday on ZH, can't post links but worth a read, search this

There has been an increase in the amount of people using food banks in Germany over the Merkel years. This isn't a good thing.

"Though Germany is one of the world’s most prosperous countries almost 16 per cent of the population (13 million people) are now classified as relatively poor, living on less than 60 per cent of the median income. When Angela Merkel took office in 2005, in an economic crisis, it was lower: 14.7 per cent."

This is just more of the madness. We too have a lot of people using food banks yet we have politicians trying to force changes to the system so that the extended families of asylum seekers can be relocated here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but asylum is meant to be a temporary arrangement where the asylum seeker returns home when it is safe for them to do so. By bringing the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and siblings here it sends a clear message that the country is open to colonisation.

You think its Bad over there wait till you read this:

Meal served by university for Black History Month is 'most problematic' thing students have ever seen
https://www.indy100.com/article/nyu-president-apologises-after-students-call-out-racially-insensitive-black-history-month-meal-viral-8223431

Suck it SnowFlakes!

That's hilarious.

This is the big probelm when do-gooders try to pander to minority groups - a lot of the time they end up insulting the very groups that they try to pander too. Loved this comment:

"It was just ignorant. In 2018, there’s no excuse for intentional and deliberate disrespect. There’s no reason that anyone should be acting like they had no clue that this was insensitive."

But the do-gooders just don't get it. They don't even think as they try to pander to minority groups.

An interesting analysis of the issue is in the following article.

As in other countries the kneejerk reaction from politicians to anyone who has to deal with practical problems is to declare "racism" as opposed to accepting responsibility for creating the problem in the first place.

https://sputniknews.com/analysis/201802271062036085-germany-essen-food-bank-migrants/

Extract:

"Sputnik: The manager at the bank mounted concerns that the elderly Germans are becoming too frightened to participate in the program, why do you think the German people having to bear the brunt of this?

Werner Patzelt: They're simple facing the consequences of this huge amount of immigration we had in 2015-2016, which now changes the circumstances of everyday life of many Germans in many local German communities since this immigration was opted for and was supported by people who were driven by their ethical and the moral imperatives and not by practical considerations. Now in practice, it turns out what the enormous consequences, the side-effects, the unwelcome side effects of this policy have been, so it's simply Germany's rendez-vous with reality, which is expressed in this situation with the Essen food bank, and this will be only the first example of a number of examples in different fields of policies, which will become noticeable in the coming years."

Germany and most western countries including Ireland are more prosperous than several years ago it is the deliberate allocation of wealth to the already wealthy that has increased percentage in poverty, and it's not finished yet, a sizeable chunk of the trillions dished out by the ECB will be lost and it will be those in poverty who will be expected to make up the shortfall (including the Irish.....again)

Meanwhile a EU budget for 'Security' has been the first budget item agreed for the next term, with EU citizens committed to providing 5 billion a year (on top of their own national defence budgets) to keep us safe from Russia

That's a great point.

While the stats often look good at a summary level, they usually don't address the growing levels of inequality across western democracies.

As you say, the uber-rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle-class is getting squeezed. Politicians don't care - they face no punishment if they fail politically, and end up retiring comfortably, so handing out more and more to the rich, while bringing in more and more asylum seekers/refugees/immigrants makes no difference to them. And all the while they call anypne who dares to point out the truth "Nazis".

Something has got to give.

Wow.
Who could have foreseen negative consequences to Merkel's open-door immigration policy ?

The question should really be asked why German people need food banks at all, what is happening in the richest country in Europe that it needs food banks to feed its people?

Been seeing this kind of crap for almost 18 years since the anchor baby welfare fraudsters suddenly turned up on my doorstep,, the CSO hide their employment rates, the politicians and virtue signalers in the media all live in leafy South Dublin where they see none of the problems caused and the rest who have to suck it up are called racist nazi's when we try and get our kids a place in OUR local school.

This cultural marxist madness is a kind of apartheid inflicted upon the working class natives by scum elitist fascists that should be exposed. It just never happens to land on their doorstep ? that is 100% of the problem, the elitist scum get away with their crimes against native people yet again and use lying propaganda every day.

Merc, BMWs, best of clothing and phones, all on the dole , free housing for life, mountains of credit cards and fake companies formed to get more bank accounts, always in the banks washing cash through several accounts,, they are fooking laughing at how gullible we are,, the EU is heading for a tipping point in the near future..
