Horrible, poor girl,

Agree with the sentiments in the OP, the animals must have been mistreated,

Absolutely heartbreaking story; concur with the OP, that's not normal behaviour.

All these type of dogs need to be banned totally. Most are owned by skangers who can't even raise their own kids and see the dogs as a status symbol.

The poor little girl i can't even imagine how terrified she must have been. R.I.P.

The presence of pitbull terriers says a lot about the area this poor girl lived in ... The only people in our locality with these animals are drug dealers and travellers ... These animals should be banned but that would infringe on drug dealers rights ... Can't have that now can we ...

Agreed. If socialised, Staffies are amongst the friendliest dogs you'll ever meet. Your only danger is being licked to happiness. While not trying to prejudge this case, if they're denied contact and locked in a run, can you blame them for returning to being pack animals?

All the dogs mentioned are banned in Dublin local authority estates afaik. It is not the dogs fault but it is true that scum tend to want to have them so they are often brutalised. But any dog will behave like that if treated badly. Of course there is big difference between being attacked by a brutalised Mastiff which is a powerful animal and being attacked by a Jack Russell or a poodle.

I have had dog set upon by Pit Bulls let loose by some feral scum but fortunately it was a bitch and the male dogs didn't carry on with their attack. The dogs clearly had retained some of their code of honour despite being under the control of lower animals.

There are no bad dogs just bad owners. People who own dogs should be regularly investigated to see if they are treating the dogs properly and should have mandatory training before being allowed to have one.

Which types of dog specifically? Please name all the breeds you'd be belting with your ban stick.

Yep, it is quite funny to see how friendly they are compared to their fearsome looks,

But keeping 4 or 5 of them in a terreced house is not fair to them,

As the law abiding middle Ireland emigrate in their thousands and the welfare classes continue to breed huge families for larger welfare payments .. Pitbull terriers will be the most common dog in Ireland and can't be long before a child is eaten alive by some scumbags pitbull in this country.... In 2030 this country will be like one big moyross !!

There were no pitbulls involved in this attack.

The poor girl, what an awful death for her. RIP.

Why in God's name would anyone keep four dogs, especially four powerful dogs like two Mastiffs and two Staffies and especially in a small back garden. Food and vet bills ought to be prohibitive in itself but then again, if they can't be bothered taking the dogs for a walk, why would they bother with food and vet bills? The owners couldn't manage these dogs, so they were ignored and never taken for walks because they couldn't manage them and consequently the dogs became bored and became aggressive.

There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners and I hope the owners of these dogs are prosecuted. I also hope the breed of dogs have been properly identified. A close family member of mine has a Stafffie and he is a smashing friendly dog. Though he is a powerfully strong. He is kept with a calm quiet Springer Spaniel for company and the Springer is the top dog. Even with children they have never encountered a problem with the Staffie. Every responsible owner knows that dogs have their own hierarchy and I've seen little terriers dominate much bigger dogs so I can't imagine what what happening in that back garden.

These stories are every dog owners nightmare. Social housing and Housing Associations should have a ban on specific breeds and a limit on how many dogs a tenant can own.

I think it was actually 5 dogs, but the police killed four of them,

You are right. I wonder why they didn't shoot the fifth dog as well?

2bull terriers ,1bull mastiff and 1 American bulldog -all in a tiny little house! The owner should be arrested.
There's nothing wrong per se with having large dogs in a small house, look at any big city where the professional dog walkers go from apartment to apartment collecting dogs to bring them for their walk and socialise them.

However, if these dogs were locked in a run with only themselves for company, living in their own crap, and reacted in a defensive mode when they thought their pack was in danger, then it's not the dog's fault for responding like that.

A tragic case for all involved.
