Interesting to see who will rush to the defence of a monopolistic Capitalist behemoth.

What is the best alternative to google?
Depends which product you want to replace and for what reasons. (Edit: also how much you are willing to pay)

Search engine: DuckDuckGo. Not as good but gets the job done and doesn't trace your movements.

It seems that Google isn't quite the "Don't be evil" organisation that it was a long time ago. It is now apparently censoring critics.

The range of comments on the article is interesting. The quote from "The Manchurian Candidate" especially so.
So is it any wonder that our institutional state is so enamoured with them, aka regulatory capture?

Here's some more on this

Yandex (A Russian search engine that kicked Google's ass in the Russian market and also is a generic search engine) is also worth a look, www.yandex.com

OP is misleading. Google are not censoring anybody. They fund an organisation that criticised them and have decided they won't continue to do so if they take a certain viewpoint,

You are a total star. Despite all the nonsense it is people like you that make P.ie the great place that it is.

It's an interesting article. They seem to have no conception of their monopoly status and the responsibilities which go with that. It's worrying also that they have become such huge lobbyists in the US. I suppose they could have used more subtle tactics to achieve the same end and we're better off knowing what they are doing up front.

The comments are interesting. I'd agree with the statement that millenials have absolutely zero concern about online privacy. They don't understand what it is even.
