I have a life.
Former Schering-Plough company (since 1964) now MSD to close in Rathdrum in 2 years time, thats 280 jobs. It will be interesting to see the reason for the closure if we are now supposed to be more competitive etc but looks like the green shoots in the Garden of Ireland are wilting. MSD Ireland will continue to employ about 2,000 people.

MSD employs 2,300 people directly in Ireland and provides an additional 9,000 indirect jobs through the services we use.

In the last four decades the company has invested over €2.2bn in Ireland. MSD is one of Ireland's leading exporters and contributes significantly towards making the pharmaceutical industry the country’s leading export sector. MSD is a member of Guaranteed Irish and manufactures and packages many of its leading products for the world market in Ireland.

100,000 new jobs net after 5 years was the promise.
That's 20,000 a year net.

How are we doing on that score FG fanboys?

They are concerned about people losing their jobs , you or your party clearly are not
I didn't see anything in the OP that indicated concern about the people losing their jobs. Anyway companies shed jobs all the time, for all sorts of reasons - many of which may have nothing to do with the overall state of the economy.

Hard to say, given that there's still 3 years to go, surely?

Thats a sad outlook you have, do you think people genuinely rejoice as they watch businesses close, people lose their jobs, punitive tax increases and new taxes and penalties on people who cannot afford to pay their utilitiy bills etc. Is that what you think it is, a laugh.? It is the sad reality for many.

There are quite a few well heeled schoolboys who post on here who see job losses as a football score sheet.

According to the 5 Point Plan the wording is "to generate 20,000 jobs each year". That leaves quite a lot of job creation for the next three years. 60,000 according to the FG 5 Lies!
That is the target they set and expect to be judged on.

I think there are a large number of people on this site hoping for more misery to be inflicted on people so that they may achieve political change.

Why did you choose to leave out the words "on average", which are right in the middle of the sentence you specifically quoted?

Why do you think MSD is shedding 280 jobs?
