Hamas don't want Palestinian children to know the truth

Gaza's ruling Islamist movement Hamas has resisted suggestions that Palestinian children should be taught about the Holocaust in UN-run schools.
The head of its education committee in Gaza, Abdul Rahman el-Jamal, told the BBC that the Holocaust was a "big lie".
The UN is still making up its mind on the issue!

Of course Palestinian schools should provide studnets with factual information about the holocaust, as about all historical events.

In the same way, Israeli schools should provide students with factual information about the naqba, as about all historical events.

In Europe or Britain, they call that cultural enrichment and diversity. So celebrate Hamas's diversity and look forward to the day that it happens in a school near you.;)

They are UN schools. If the Hamas set up their own schools I would not expect an objective account of anything. But if the UN cave in on teaching the holocaust in UN schools then it will be a sad day indeed.

While being taught that the holocaust is a lie could perhaps be worse than not being taught about it at all, I can see no reason whatsoever to keep children in ignorance of one of the most important historical events of the 20th century.

First of all, it's Nakba. Secondly what historical help would it be to tell them their people started a war, and inflicted a great suffering on themselves?

From a Palestinian point of view I can see why they would not like their children taught about the Holocaust. After all it was the Holocaust, as an event, that led to the creation of a Jewish state. They don't want their children to know of these things. The establishment of Israel is a major humiliation to Palestinians and Arabs. And every war they started and lost since 1948 is a humiliation to them. So it is understandable that they don't want their children to learn the background to this humiliation. Also by teaching the Holocaust they would also have to show that their own leaders at the time supported the Nazis. They might have learned that if there had not been a Holocaust a Jewish state might not have been created..........but if there had been a Jewish state the Holocaust could not have happened. Maybe the Palestinian leaders take the view that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Seeing as I was talking about the naqba being taught in Israeli schools, then for once we agree! Israeli children really do need to be informed on their nation's history of ultimately self-destructive warfare. Wonders will never cease!

But Israelis are taught about the history of their country and how it gained its independence etc. and all the history from 48. Maybe you're getting a bit muddled though. You say Israeli children need to be informed on their nation's history (they are) of ultimately self-destructive warfare (wishful thinking for the future on your part). In one sentence you seem to be mixing history (past) with wishful thinking for the future. A kind of harry Potter mix of fact and fiction with a few spells thrown in. Would you like your own children taught like that?

You're right. After we talk about the Nakba and how it came about by the Arab genocidal leadership, and armies, we can turn to the Benesh decrees, and tell them that as long as Europe hold the rights of what was a population of more than 2.5 million Germans in the Sudeten, and in Silesia of Poland, the issue is not on the table.
When all those Germans come back, we'll have enough time to turn to Pakistan and India population exchange.

Maybe they need to teach comprehensible English writing skills in Israeli schools too?
