Indeed.. I know the ALDE was a struggle for many Fianna Failers.

Didn't yer man from Cork, Brian Crowley, refuse to move to ALDE and join the hard right ECR group instead?
Yes

But when he doesn't turn up, it doesn't really make a difference.

Whoever fails to get elected to the Dail before then will be the candidate.

Senator Neal Richmond categorically ruled out being the FG candidate for the EP next year on "the week in politics" yesterday. Does this mean the return of Lucinda?

Pat Cox or Ronan O'Gara. Or something along the axis between those two. Actually if Pat Cox and Ronan O'Gara were allowed to breed they'd probably deliver the perfect candidate.
Sounds like a porn video Leo would drool over!!

Creighton displayed very poor judgement to get herself out of FG in the first place. From the wilderness she went on to attack everything FG did and in the process showed an uncanny ability to make political enemies of her erstwhile colleagues. Her lack of political savvy was mercilessly exposed in the shambles that was Renua.

FG would probably rather poach Ruth Coppinger than have her back.

Lucinda Creighton was in my mind the only openly FG TD who publicly (via the media) at the time tried to persuade Enda Kenny to reopen our embassy in the Vatican which he did in later months and thereby made himself look like a complete and utter gobshite after his "brave speech" criticising the Vatican early into his first term in office in 2011. His decision to reopen the embassy, again after his "brave speech" not long before, is the biggest single reason why I consider him to be a gobshite. I don't dislike or hate him- I just think he is a gobshite.

They've already taken back Timmins who is running in Wicklow at the next GE and Flanagan who is running for DCC at the next LE for FG. Why not Creighton for the EP Election? The only thing is she'd have to give up being a lobbyist.

She's also pretty tight with Varadkar, when she resigned her leadership of that zombie political party she set up - she backed him for the leadership of FG for some reason.

Lots of FG TDs openly criticised the embassy closure - maybe LC was the only cabinet member though?

Creighton took her fall from grace rather badly. She didn't just quit FG she made a point of attacking it relentlessly and unnecessarily, making enemies in the process.

If she'd been more politically astute she would be a cabinet minister now, instead she managed to destroy her own political career. Even if Varadkar wanted her back he would have to convince the members to accept her and canvass for her and I don't think she's bringing enough to the table to make it worth his while.

I would have thought the same about Flanagan and Timmins but they are both back in FG now.

Banking Payments Federation Ireland Appoints Brian Hayes as New CEO - Banking and Payments Federation Ireland

CEO of BPFI

Never liked him until I had to deal with personally and he definitely gained my respect.

He's is far more nuanced and intelligent that some of his earlier media appearances suggested (when he came across as a Baby Thatcher)

Hard working MEP, he'll be missed

Neale Richmond would be a good call to replace.
Retired!
You mean getting his pay off.

I didn't buy any paper today and don't have a subscription to the digital SBP but I saw it reported on their Facebook page an hour or so ago that Dr. James Reilly is thinking about standing for FG in Dublin.

I hope he stands and gets elected. FG will probably carry out polling to see what his chances are so he mightn't decide/be let go for it.

I can't imagine a worse candidate than Jimbo.
