The same hate mongering hooligans responsible for the anti-gay riots were making more noise yesterday:

14 injured after Serbian fans riot in Genoa - RT News

The words of the head of Serbias Football federation, Tomislav Karadzic, are very strong:

'The whole of Europe saw the disgrace and shame brought upon Serbia by fans who have kept us under siege in our hotel for two days,' Mr Karadzic told Belgrade's B92 television after the rioting.

'We had information these fans would come here with the intention to force the game to be abandoned and we notified the Italian authorities.

'It's up to the Serbian government now to launch a swift investigation and establish who recruited these young men to come here and riot because this is an act of aggression which goes beyond football.'
It seems Tomislav Karadzic believes the motivation of these thugs is political and a deliberate attempt to besmirch and isolate Serbia is behind these actions. There is still a strong link between Serbian ultra-nationalists, like the Arkan Tigers, and football clubs like Red Star Belgrade. As a political base for militent anti-government activity that link seems to be being utilised again to bring violence onto the streets of Serbia and Serbian violence further afield.

All countries to some extent have a football hooligan problem and an anti-homosexual problem. Serbia though seems unique in having a large scale and organised problem linked into active political ultra-nationalism. The molilised hooligans are very comparible to the British EDL, they only enjoy greater mainstream support from opposition figures. Serbia has to face this problem down. But I doubt that can be done without violence.

Boris Tadic has to face this current up thrust of thuggery and defeat it. I think though he can be confident that most Serbs will see the long term national interest of Serbia as being of greater importance than the whims of Ultra-nationalist thugs who have no viable vision for a secure Serbian future.

Cant stand them scumbags, they wreck my head. Screaming anti English sentiment and then eating fish and chips and drinking Carling after saying they would never bow to the English!

Well said. Those who oppose the agenda to browbeat people into accepting homosexual activity as "normal" have just as much right to express their opposition as half-naked posers have to prance around busy streets proclaiming their "pride".

Easy now, an orderly queue please to rip my statement apart (freedom of speech and all that jazz!)
you mean like the peaceful protest at belfast pride by the free prebyterian church, attended by 20 gob************************es, it was laughed at. Completely different to the riots in Belgrade. Also note that belfast pride was the only pride parade in Ireland that met any protest at all

These idiots are living in the past, like all ultra-nationalists. They want to turn Serbia into a kind of Slavic Albania, isolated from Europe and the world and allied with-I'd guess-fellow anachronistic oddities like TransDniestr and Byelorussia.

I noticed that shower of plebs at Belfast Pride last year, knob ends were shouting Sodom and Gomorrah we just laughed at them. Serbian people by two or three generations will just look upon gays as being something that is as common as breakfast and work, its just another thing in the world and they will get on with life
