How much would we get for our Neutrality if we were to "sell" it?

Maybe we would get our honor back as a nation if we were to stop hiding behind the US and the UK and take our place at their side. We have basically left ourselves defenceless on the belief that if thretend the US and the UK will be there to save us.

Other countries just can't wait to be allies with a country that doesn't even have a fighter jet of its own hahaha... well apart from the ancient mickey mouse ones

Really we don't have Neutrality, as we have to be nice to the US or else they pull Google Intel etc.

Maybe, we should wait for a war to break out, and then, sell it to the highest bidder.

Surely we'd get billions as well as creating hundreds/thousands of new jobs?
Has to be worth at least a trillion dollars(Monty Burns money!).
Key Atlantic strategic outpost for Air, Sea and Submarine fleets, bases and training zones.
But we'd rather pretend we are neutral and let the US bomb Iraq, and whoever else has extractable resources, via Shannon without making any money from it!
We are about as neutral as the office of the referendum commission was unbiasedduring the Lisbon II campaign! ie not very!!

Don't you have to have a functioning army which is capable of being hostile in order to be neutral in the first place?

This idea is right up there with the Chinese Hub in Athlone and the SuperCasino in Nth Tipp, something gombeen FF'ers dream up over a few pints, the fuppers would sell your Granny not to mind their own.

Shannon is a US base already and we got nothing for it but a reputation for supporting slaughter.
And the money from the US planes...
And the sweetheart deals we get on certain things, the new one year visa, and the pre-cleareance on shannon...
And access to the US President once a year...

Think we do pretty well out of our relationship with the US, in fairness.

If we do decide to sell, there are a couple of people who might be brought into the process - Michael Lynn, for one, who purportedly raised several mortgages on one property. He could presumably sell the country a number of times, with each buyer being unaware of the previous buyer. Mammy "I won't tell ye the price of the EIRCOM shares until after the event" O'Rourke would be another must have at the table.

Afraid we are too late. We could have made a deal with the US during WW2 or during the Cold War.
